Magical place. The food and the hospitality are something you can't find in other places in this area. You quickly feel at home and part of the history of the family who ownes the place and runs it. Also, the coffee is the best in the US, just like in Italy!

Small eatery with long tables and benches, super friendly staff and lovely atmosphere - not to mention the excellent food! I highly recommend the store as well!
Kid-friendliness: Not a perfect place for kids due to benches and no kid-friendly food alternatives, but if you have a child who likes pasta, I’m sure the kitchen can accommodate something more custom!

I go out of my way to dine here. I love that is a family enterprise. I love that it reminds me of the little true italians restaurants I see in Rome. I love the dishes. I love that is authentic Italian dishes. I was schoked that someone gave them a 1 star review. I’ve been there more than 10 times, and anytime I can squeezy a trip to New Heaven, I make it a point to stop by. As I am writing this, I am getting the urge to just pick up and go. Buyer beware this is not your run of the mill chicken parm place, but if you want true Italian food cook the nonna way, you are in for a treat. Salute!

This was the highlight of our family weekend at Yale. While New Haven has no shortage of quality Italian food, Skappo is #1 in every way, not only because of the exquisitely prepared steaming bowls of pasta, but because of the love and warmth brought to each table by the servers and of course Nona. We will definitely be returning!! Grazie!!

If sticky table tops, slow service, small portions, and tasteless carbonara are okay with you this is the place to go for a meal. Otherwise, plan to eat in one of the other really great Italian restaurants in the Wooster Square area. I have NO idea how this restaurant scored a 4.9 their reviews
I've been here 2 times, once this past week and once in like 2012. Both times were outstanding and memorable. The food is hearty, rich, well made, and absolutely delicious.

Close your eyes and you are in Italy. Lovely, congenial atmosphere in this family restaurant. It's clear the owners definitely care. My favorites are the pasta carbonara with the delightful salad that has walnuts and gorgonzola and homemade salad dressing. My partner loves the figs with gorgonzola. And you have to try their tiramisu.

Deliciousness on a plate, incredible service and a welcoming family embracing us to have a homemade meal.
We were only in town for one night and am so happy we discovered the gem.
This restaurant is a must go to spot if you’re in New Haven or close to it!
