What Luke's does well, it does really well - the shrimp cavatelli is fabulous. Other dishes (especially the mains - we ordered about half the menu) were less memorable. It's dark and looks busy but the acoustics are good enough that conversation is easy. And it should be - you're next to the Schubert and a stone's throw from Old Campus and the Green.

Im really not the kind of person to write a bad review and I’m sure no one will actually see this but the expectation vs experience was so different that I need to get it off my chest.
We went for Valentine’s Day. They completely overbooked the restaurant and most of the courses were terrible. One course seemed like just asparagus and mayonnaise mixed together. The meat was overcooked and tough. Not to mention we had to wait an hour to be seated and another 40 minutes for food. They didn’t even give us steak knives for their tough cuts of steak. I think they ran out of food and were handing people whatever they had. Even the servers were saying how they didn’t know what was going on. You can’t charge people $400 for that experience. I actually asked for my money back and got made fun of. Will never go there again.

The website and their Google presence both say open until 10:00 pm today (Thursday). I tried calling ahead since 8 to confirm this time and showed up off the train at 9:20. Fourty minutes prior to their stated closing and 10 minutes before the stated last seating.
All the doors were closed and the handful of idiotic staffers inside simply looked at me and ignored me entirely. Not even a second of their time to address me or explain why they closed the doors early.
Very unprofessional of them.
I went to this beautiful restaurant with a friend to sit at the bar and have a drink and some oysters. Unfortunately, they were out of oysters, had inattentive bar staff, mediocre cocktails, and forgettable food. I can't see any reason to return.

Went to a launch it was a bad time the bartender was nice but the vibe was off. Maybe for lunch and dinner is good, but late at night it's not it.
This restaurant is not-to-be-missed. There was a slight wait when we arrived, so the hostess brought out complementary glasses of champagne what a classy move. The menu is perfectly crafted... we wanted to try everything. Complementary dessert as well. The drink menu is fantastic.. wine list changes monthly. The service was perfect from the hostess to the waiter to everyone with whom ewe interacted. And the atmosphere is lovely - beautiful interior!
Gorgeous courses and beautiful atmosphere. If they also had more focus on their mixology then food service would be 5 stars.

What a find! Food prepared and presented in a unique way - mostly small to medium sized plates supplemented by larger entrees - all were beautifully presented and delicious! The Tuna Tartare was served perfectly, and the sauces used were perfect for dipping. Service was awesome...staff explained the menu, how food is prepared, and how it is delivered to the table. Most of all, they let us take our time, no rushing you out the door! Wine list is varied and reasonably priced. We need to go back soon to try new and different menu items.
This place has amazing food and fantastic service. Can't recommend them enough. They were able to accommodate the low/no sugar request after consulting with the chef.
Dietary restrictions: They accommodated the request for no/low sugar content in the dishes.

One of the best dining experiences I've had anywhere, and certainly a favorite in New Haven. Excellent service from start to finish - from a champagne toast while you wait for your table, to complimentary add-ons that tailor to your group needs, to attentive wait staff. Fantastic food every time I've been - highly recommend the tuna (don't let the sauce go to waste - we order extra bread to soak it up), the scallops, the snapper, the steak. Really can't go wrong. And then the ambiance of the old Taft hotel with the mood lighting tops it all off.

If you are interested in food with different flavors and textures this is a place you should try. Service matched the food our bartender was attentive and friendly. It's a pleasure to go to a restaurant that offers big city food in a small city.Great job to chef and staff.
The Luke is THE BEST!! We went out to dinner for my husband's birthday and even with 9 of us, the service was incredible! The pacing of the courses was perfect. All of our family was raving about the food. If you haven't tried The Luke yet, book it today!
Quickly becoming one of our favorite New Haven spots for dinner! The food and atmosphere are lovely. Our server, Josh was especially a highlight. He was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us select a great wine for our steak (cooked perfectly). Can’t wait to go back!

A true gem! One of the finest (if not THE finest) meals I've ever had in New Haven. Creative cuisine crafted with impeccable ingredients. Absolutely flawless service that is quite obviously performed with a total lack of pretention. Without question, New Haven's best restaurant.
