Found this place on our way through New Haven on a road trip. After driving all day, we were excited for a snack. We like hot tea in the evening and saw they had a selection. The guy at the register was helpful and we picked out macrons to enjoy.
Reason for lower stars—
It was 30 minutes before closing so we figured we could eat 2 cookies and finish our tea in that time without disturbing the staff. The young black guy was sweet and patiently helped us. After we got our food… A young Asian man came and told us to get up and leave the restaurant. He said we were not allowed to sit and eat our food close to closing time.
I politely told him “It’s 2 cookies, we won’t make any mess and we will be out in 10 minutes. ” He said “No exceptions, you have to leave.”
I have never heard of a restaurant that kicks people out 20 minutes before they close.
We didn’t know the area so we tried to walk to the park down the street to finish our cookies and tea. It was full of homeless people and a woman stopped us and told us it’s not safe at night to be there. The cops were arresting people on the other side of the street.
We ended up having to go sit and finish our treats in our car. Pretty disappointing they couldn’t let us sit after spending $30. Some of the macrons were good. The tea was nice. (Kinda hard to mess up tea). Close at 8 pm or hire new staff that knows how to treat customers.
Went back in the next morning because we were passing by and told the manager. She looked at me like I was speaking a gibberish and defended the employee “well, they were closing…” Every single business I ever worked at, including many restaurants, we served the customers until the moment the place closed and didn’t make them eat outside. So now I know why the staff is ignorant. They have no management or customer service skills.

The food is really good here. The coffee is sometimes questionable. But a lot of it has to do with the staff it's really uncomfortable to order food when the cashier has an attitude. I had my hand out to grab my food and she throws it on the counter.

The best cake I had after I came to America. It's sooo delicious.
Went there actually multiple times but I will only talk about the time I went to get my free slice of cake because of my birthday! They do offer multiple pastries and really fresh and tasty and I also got my birthday cake from them and was really good! Their seating is really big and comfortable !I highly recommend this bakery

I generally really like Tous les Jours. The atmosphere is cozy, their pastries are usually fresh and well-made, and it's one of my go-to spots when I’m craving something light but satisfying. However, I've noticed a pretty consistent issue with the quality of their drinks—particularly the iced chocolate.
I’m a big fan of their iced chocolate when it's made right; it's rich, smooth, and has just the right amount of sweetness. But unfortunately, about half the time I order it, it ends up being extremely watered down—like they added too much ice or didn’t mix it properly. It’s disappointing because when it’s good, it’s really good. That inconsistency makes it hard to know what you're going to get, and it takes away from the overall experience.
I still enjoy visiting Tous les Jours, but I do wish they would work on being more consistent, especially with their drink preparation. It would make a big difference for regular customers like me.

We (my wife and I) arrived at 7:30pm, a full hour before close just for a small dessert and a coffee. We were mostly ignored by staff that were cleaning like the place was closed. I asked about the closing time and was told 8:30pm. I asked why were all the chairs put up so early. I was told that they are to put them up at 7:30pm. The short experience was entirely unwelcoming and even though the pastries looked delicious, the only point for me to stop in was for a short sit down to eat. We left immediately.

I’ve been here a couple of times with my friends to study… And let me just tell you, it’s not the place to do so! These two girls behind the counter were very loudly gossiping and you could hear all their business… It was just very odd and unprofessional it’s like they never learned time and place. It’s just a free-for-all-all. My friend had gotten her coffee in a cup with no sleeve because they didn’t have any and she said her hand was burning up so bad. Just a lawsuit in waiting. The drinks are constantly inconsistent, taste different every time and everything is so overpriced for the quality. Safe to say we will not be returning here, very unpleasant and unprofessional atmosphere and service.
