I live outside of DC and go to a number of Michelin star restaurants… I will flatly say I have had meals that equalled Union League but never one that exceeded it. Couple in their very reasonable pricing, gorgeous building, great staff and this place is extraordinary. I will be visiting my sister in Milford more often in the future :-)!

I'm reviewing one lunch dish-- the lobster omelet. It is an omelet absotely packed with simple, unseasoned steamed spinach with a very few pieces of tepid lobster, one small claw that had cartilage, and a lobster flavored sauce. I would avoid ordering this dish. Very disappointing.

Can you expect anything less? These guys are the very best. Love them affordable, great food, great wine. Staff highly knowledgeable. Owner is great. Very romantic setting weather it's the family or date night they give it they're all. The story the historic view I mean come on everything tied up in one great job guys. Wish you all the success in the world.

If you have only one meal to enjoy in New Haven, this is the place to go. Far and away superior to everything else in the city (I say that as a 20+ year resident). The duck confit appetizer is a signature classic. The service is impeccable and perfect if you are a classy person. Elegant. Refined. Every dish on the menu is excellent. It's not inexpensive, but a great value considering how much I've paid at vastly inferior places that are more “hip”... My first meal in New Haven was lunch at the ULC and I hope my last meal will be there too.

We had a wonderful experience celebrating my twin daughter's 18th birthday at the Union League Cafe with the chef's tasting menu. Each course was delicious and interesting and the service was impeccable. We felt relaxed and the courses were perfectly timed allowing us ample time to enjoy the experience and each other. The evening was so memorable for our family and overall, we felt valued and appreciated.

Union League is a high end (and expensive) restaurant with excellent food. While 3 of the 4 of us were seated on time, I was delayed driving around the block several times trying to find a place to park. As I sat down, the waiter “reminded” me that our table was booked a bit later. I pulled him aside to say we were there for a special occasion and that I didn't want to hear another word about needing to rush. He argued that he was obligated to tell me that. After that, service was excellent, but they need to educate their wait staff on better ways to communicate with customers.

It's hard for me to believe I have never reviewed ULC since it has been our special occasion restaurant for some time. Our anniversary is Valentine's Day - the means, in most restaurants, crowds, noise, and a not great experience. ULC is the consumate Valentine's experience. It starts with us being wished a happy anniversary as our coats are taken. Then to our table and an amuse bouche and complementary glass of sparkling rose. We then moved on to our 3 course dinner - foie gras (the one just ok dish) and scallops (excellent!,) then lobster and lamb - each delectable. Desert was a pistachio chocolate tart for my husband and the coeur for me. Excellent service, excellent food, special occasion ambiance. We love the ULC.

Spectacular meal in a beautiful setting. We had the tasting menu and the food was terrific across the board. Even the butternut squash soup, an item I never like nor would order, was quite delicious. The wine pairings weren't all as perfect as the food, but that's a minor complaint. Only nit was the fact that we had to ask for water at the beginning of the meal, but they filled our glasses constantly throughout. Relative to New York prices (I live just outside NYC), this is a veritable deal, both in terms of quality and value. Even for me, this is a place that is worth a return trip despite the distance. I give it very high marks.

An exquisite experience. ULC never disappoints. The wait staff, and food were on point. John, our waiter, needs to be commended. They have every attention to detail. Christine FitzGerald is a superior Hostess. She is a gem! ULC rivals, or exceeds any New York, or Parisian restaurant without being pretentious. I look forward to visiting again and again. Do try the Grand Marnier Soufflé!

Very upscale which honestly I wasn't expecting. I knew it would be nice though. Food didn't disappoint. Service was absolutely amazing. We ate so many appetizers that we didn't need dinner. Crème Brûlée was amazing!

For a restaurant that is ranked top 5 in Ct, they are missing the mark. Too much going on with every dish we were served. In addition, the protein sizes were too small. I had turbot....I'm guessing it was under 4 oz. The filet was 6 oz. One highlight was the souffle.....excellant.

The food was terrific as always, but they were busy and the service was a bit distracted. One of the nice things about Union League is not just the wonderful food and wine but the gracious way in which it was presented. This was lacking a bit this time, so felt less like the special occasion it was.

Another fantastic meal at the Union League. The setting and the quality of the food is first rate. I want to especially want to commend the pastry chef for the sublime desserts. The chocolate and pistachio tart and the mon coeur were some of the best examples of those two desserts that we have had.

Food and service were disappointing. It was Valentine's Day with a pre fixe menu. Hopefully, this isn't typical of the dining experience there. Wonderful historical ambience. Unfortunately, the food and service was less than desirable.
