Jake's Diner on State Street

I have been back in Dayton Ohio for a little over 2 years. I have tried to find a place that does breakfast as well as Jakes. I have found one that I like very much, but I have never seen eggs done over easy as fantastic as Jakes are. We were living on Fishers Island for 19 years before we moved back and we would take the ferry as often as we could . Jake and his family are welcoming to all.

As I was really looking for a.great experience, unfortunately the service was not of a great diner. The waitress there were nice but when asked if I wanted more coffee I said yes and I thought she went to get the pot but started talking to other customers. Never came back. And never checked on us after breakfast plates where served.

Okay if you have never eaten here before this is your sign to try it now! You won't regret it. Just mozy on in and order whatever you have a taste for and just like that you'll be happy you did. 😊 friendly and welcoming you won't even feel like it's your first time here.

This is an amazing place. The owner Jake is very friendly and checks on everyone. The other employees are great too.

The food was amazing. Scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, toast, home fries, and the kielbasa were in order for us on Sunday. There was even some locally made pineapple hot sauce.

The decor and vibe were great as well. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Thanks Mr. Jake, hope to be back often if my child goes college in your town!

Hey, just wanted to let you know about our experience at the restaurant. The service was so slow, we almost walked out. And to top it off, the place was unclean. But we didn't want to insult the workers. The worst part was when the server coughed all over our food before serving it. And then to make matters worse, he had cheese from his thumb stuck to my omelet. Yuck. And they even forgot the fries we ordered. The coffee was disgusting and the steak omelette had a nasty taste. And don't even get me started on how greasy everything was. The omelettes were as thin as a sheet of paper. And to add insult to injury, we had to ask for a straw with the orange juice. Plus, the prices were higher than what was listed on the menu. Can you believe it? And to top it all off, we saw someone go behind the bar and cash register area to get a cloth to clean their own table. Definitely not a high-class place. Not recommended at all.
