I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when we stopped in here for happy hour, a really great deal. I think it was a drink & appetizer for ten dollars! Staff was very sweet. It is within a hotel. I heard individuals who stayed there speaking to the bartender that gave them great info about the area.

My sister was in town visiting from Maine and stayed at the Holiday Inn. We went to La Luna for dinner and drinks. 5 stars isn't a high enough ranking for the absolute amazing service we had. This gem of a spot needs more love from the locals. Our dinner was absolutely delicious. Additionally, one of my biggest pet peeves at a restaurant is the staff complaining and there was NONE of that going on here. They all helped each other and it was awesome. The whole experience was fantastic 👏

I got to go order while staying at the Haul Inn. I figured it was a hotel restaurant whatever
Turns out it was phenomenal
Rack of lamb perfectly cooked nicely seasoned nothing overpowering the taste
Pasta Fagillo again very very good. A little twist on traditional the broth had almost a Pomodoro taste. I’m Italian and I had many good cooks in my family
The muscles had a combination of a white wine sauce and a marinara unusual but also very good
Highly recommended I will go out of my way to go back to this restaurant

📅 08.29.25 WRITTEN REVIEW Big Al’s Reel Reviews Ep.156 🎥 La Luna Ristorante Italiano 👎🏾 City of New London, CT I walked into La Luna Ristorante in New London with high hopes. The atmosphere really does shine… beautiful décor, warm lighting, and a live guitar performance in the dining room. Everything about the vibe said this could be a great night. But I’ve got to keep it Real to Reel, and from the start, the service and food fell short. 😟 Here is the whole story: 1️⃣ Complimentary Garlic Knots & Bread with Pesto Olive Oil Dip 👍🏾 Warm, crispy, and addicting. The green pesto-style olive oil dip was packed with flavor and honestly really good. A great start. 2️⃣ Calamari Fritti – $16 👍🏾 Served in a Ruffles potato chip-style shell with marinara and lemon. Decent, okay enough to earn a thumbs up, but nothing that really stood out. 3️⃣ Polpette con Linguine – $24 👎🏾 Here’s the twist: the menu says linguine, but what I was served was spaghetti. To be fair, the pasta itself was delicious — firm, flavorful, with a sauce that carried real taste. But the meatballs dragged the dish down. They were mushy and overloaded with sausage flavor. I expect a balance of beef with maybe a touch of sausage, but this leaned way too heavy. 4️⃣ Ravioli all’Aragosta – $30 👎🏾 Presentation was beautiful, but when I cut into all five ravioli there was no lobster inside. Just a couple tiny scraps floating in the sauce. For $30, that’s unacceptable. Additionally, the filling inside had a sour taste — I couldn’t even finish the meal. The Service 👎🏾 This was rough. I stood for 13 minutes before being seated, even though there were plenty of open tables. Once seated, I was handed menus but then left another 10 minutes with no greeting, no water, no acknowledgment. That means it was a full 23 minutes before my order was taken. Service picked up a little later, but it never came close to where it needed to be. Overall Verdict La Luna has the atmosphere down, but service was slow and the entrées failed hard. I wanted to like this spot, I really did. But between the delays, the mushy meatballs, the pasta not even matching the menu description, and lobster ravioli with no lobster and a sour taste… this just wasn’t it. This one gets a 👎🏾 thumbs down overall. I can’t recommend this spot. For now I’m out and I’ll see you on the Rebound, Peace out!! ☝🏾❤️ – Big Al Mayo “Always keeping it Real to Reel.”
Great food and kind, courteous staff. Our family came in on a Sunday night and everyone found something they liked (two adults and two children). I had a weekly special risotto that included octopus which is notoriously difficult to prepare without it being a chewy, tough mess. They absolutely nailed it! Everything was amazing. Don’t overlook this relatively unassuming place- it’s amazing!!
The drinks to start were great, the meatball’s were absolutely delicious. The scratch made past with vodka and Alfredo were spectacular. The garlic nots were to die for. Great meal and experience

Food was pretty good. Service was so awful. Shawn was our server and a table near us. Was missing half the time took 20plus minuets just to get our drinks.

La Luna Catered our wedding and the food was phenomenal. The driver arrived on time for the food delivery and many of our guests commented on how good the food tasted. Marzia took great care of us. Would recommend them for your even catering or just stopping in for lunch/dinner

service was absolutely horrible. We have been coming multiple times a week for many years. Sara and Anne have always exceeded our expectations. We actually looked forward to our weekly visits. We have brought friends and family from 2 to 20 people and we're treated like royalty by the girls. NOT ANYMORE There is a new bartender, seemingly drunk and extremely unpleasant. Completely different feeling in there and we will absolutely not be back. I have seen rats running all over the restaurant fighting for crumbs, the food and drinks have significantly gone downhill. We are besides ourselves with the changes.
Came in the other night and The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was great. However, our bartender named Jojo Was extremely rude, unprofessional, and unhygienic. I saw her multiple times, put her fingers in her ears, play with her nose ring and touch her eyelashes, She then proceeded to make drinks without washing her hands. The drink she gave us tasted off and almost dirty, which was something that never happened when Annie and Kaitlyn work.. She was more concerned with drinking herself than serving us… her customer service was shocking And not in a good way… She is obviously new here because I used to be a regular. I will not return knowing that girl works there, I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a DUI on the way home one night because the way she drinks behind the bar is crazy. I wonder if the owners know how much alcohol she consumes in one shift!! Her behavior as a bartender reflects her being an immature party, girl. She should be fired!!!
Where do I start.
Took 45 mins to get my drink, got my appetizer order wrong, got my dinner order wrong, food didnt even come out hot, waitress decided to bring out food my group didn't order, never came over to check on us once during dinner. Had more people in my group than in the rest of the restaurant. Left the menus at the table the whole time we we're there. She spent more time lolly gagging behind the bar then taking caré of any customers.
