Sad soggy sesame chicken dish. Paid $18 and dish was soggy and sad. Was not worthy of $18

This place is absolutely disgusting! The staff—especially the people at the front desk—are utterly repulsive! The food isn't even good. I will never come back here again!

I recently stopped in to try this restaurant as a new customer, and unfortunately my experience wasn’t pleasant. There is a woman who works there during the weekdays (I don’t know her name, but she is shorter and appears to be middle-aged) who was extremely rude.

While I was trying to ask about the lunch specials, she kept interrupting, raising her voice, and walking away while I was speaking. She also ignored me at times and continued cleaning tables instead of helping. As someone who was new and simply trying to understand the menu, the attitude was very unnecessary and unprofessional.

I’m leaving this review in hopes that management addresses this issue, because customer service matters—especially when people are spending their money. No one should feel dismissed or disrespected when asking simple questions.

I hope this improves, but based on this experience, I would caution others about the service during weekday visits.

Healthy Chinese food options. Very yummy protein choice with lots of veggies so moms approve too. Great service too.

I've been eating here for over 25 years and it has always been consistent--until now. I don't believe in writing a bad review just to bash a place, but in the hope that they will fix what is wrong. The last few times I've been here the food was awful. Especially the fried items--the eggroll was inedible and had been cooked in month-old grease. Please fix whatever problems you guys are having as this used to be the best Chinese restaurant in Norwalk and friends would come from Westchester to eat here with me. The spare ribs are mostly fat and the General Tso's chicken had a burnt taste. I'm not sure if Eric is still there or not, but the quality has gone way down. Guys, please fix this as I want to come back--you had the market cornered--what happened?

I love the food here. It's fresh and excellent quality Chinese food, it's so far above the rest. The service is very good, and the restaurant is clean. Village Gourmet has a very busy take out business. My go to is the pan fried pork dumplings and the Thai Curry Chicken and Shrimp. I've been coming here for at least 15 years, and the food quality and preparation is always consistent. I'm a huge fan!

Our company order food from this place When I was eating Sesame chicken dish I found staple in my mouth. Such scary experience

We used to eat here a lot many years ago, so I was excited to see that our delivery app listed them. That excitement did not last long. Everything we ordered was overcooked and bathed in oily sauce, and the hot and sour soup was gelatinous with way too much corn starch. Even the rice was overcooked. We will not be ordering from them again.

We have been going there for years including before COVID and before their fire and will continue to do so as loyal customers. I’m appalled by a lot of the reviews who say they have been going for years then turn on them as soon as one meal makes them give a 1 star. This place is the definition of a small business, run by a passionate chef owner. The ladies there are hardworking and they commute from the city. The food is good, the people are nice, and they keep a clean restaurant. That’s what our family cares about.

It used to be our go to place for Chinese food. Unfortunately quality of food went downhill in the recent months. Salty, greasy food. Chicken dumplings used to be really good….. now it is a salty mess with cartilages and tendons grounded into the meat, same with wontons. Disgusting and gross. With almost every bite you have to remove it from your mouth. For the price we paid it would be nice to get better quality food. We won’t be coming back.

This is my go-to Chinese takeout place. Their sesame chicken is to die for, and honestly so is everything else I've tried from their menu! I've been going out of my way to get food here for years - it is so worth it. Staff is friendly, I've never had any mishaps with my orders, and I'll be come here forever.

Ordered take out. Deff the worst Chinese food i've had in a while. Singapore mei fun had no flavor and was barley spicy, the sesame chicken kind of tasted like socks, and the egg roll? Yuck. Not even trolling, it was really that bad. Also, no pork fried rice with the entree? Wack. Go to any other Chinese takeout place, and not here.
