Our company order food from this place When I was eating Sesame chicken dish I found staple in my mouth. Such scary experience

We used to eat here a lot many years ago, so I was excited to see that our delivery app listed them. That excitement did not last long. Everything we ordered was overcooked and bathed in oily sauce, and the hot and sour soup was gelatinous with way too much corn starch. Even the rice was overcooked. We will not be ordering from them again.

We have been going there for years including before COVID and before their fire and will continue to do so as loyal customers. I’m appalled by a lot of the reviews who say they have been going for years then turn on them as soon as one meal makes them give a 1 star. This place is the definition of a small business, run by a passionate chef owner. The ladies there are hardworking and they commute from the city. The food is good, the people are nice, and they keep a clean restaurant. That’s what our family cares about.

It used to be our go to place for Chinese food. Unfortunately quality of food went downhill in the recent months. Salty, greasy food. Chicken dumplings used to be really good….. now it is a salty mess with cartilages and tendons grounded into the meat, same with wontons. Disgusting and gross. With almost every bite you have to remove it from your mouth. For the price we paid it would be nice to get better quality food. We won’t be coming back.

This is my go-to Chinese takeout place. Their sesame chicken is to die for, and honestly so is everything else I've tried from their menu! I've been going out of my way to get food here for years - it is so worth it. Staff is friendly, I've never had any mishaps with my orders, and I'll be come here forever.

One of the best if not the BEST Chinese food restaurants in Norwalk.

Ordered take out. Deff the worst Chinese food i've had in a while. Singapore mei fun had no flavor and was barley spicy, the sesame chicken kind of tasted like socks, and the egg roll? Yuck. Not even trolling, it was really that bad. Also, no pork fried rice with the entree? Wack. Go to any other Chinese takeout place, and not here.

Village Gourmet Chinese Restaurant was so disappointing. They delivered the wrong food and to the wrong address. I called the restaurant and they were extremely rude. They refused to fix the issue and send me the correct order. The girl who picked up the phone was yelling and hang up on me. It's so disappointing and what a terrible customer experience.

I’ve eaten at Village Gourmet and ordered takeout many times over the years. In fact, I’ve brought my work team there for many celebrations. Food was always amazing…until now.
Last night ordered the chicken drunken noodles and spring rolls. Always my go-to. Wow, all I can say is that it was a huge disappointment. The spring rolls were incredibly oily. I wiped and blotted them with paper towels before eating them. The drunken noodles also oily were tasteless. This makes me sad as Village was always my go-to for Chinese food. I’ll be looking for other suggestions in the future. Again so sad they seem to have gone downhill.

I have to be honest, the quality of food is quite deceiving against how busy this place looks to be. I came to pick up dinner on Friday night and the front desk was jampacked. I got my hopes up that this place is actually pretty good as there were people also sitting dining in. my sesame chicken was very watery and they used white meat instead of dark meat, and it was cooked overdone. And this place is not cheap. It’s not totally expensive either, but I would really hope for better quality and cooking. Maybe I’d consider giving this another chance when it’s not peak, but, there are plenty of places that can still produce quality food during peak times. And this was not my experience here. The interior is really nice and welcoming, so it’s kind of unfortunate we have a bad taste in ourmouth.

I’ve been eating here for years and always more or less enjoyed the food. I bought some pork fried rice to bring home back in sept. Got it home and opened it up and proceeded to take a couple of bites when I almost busted my tooth on something hard. It ended up being a piece of cement! I called it in and I’m sure it was an accident so I wasn’t really mad just grossed out. Instead of refunding me they said bring in your receipt next time and we’ll take care of it. I stopped in today and re explained what happened because it’s been a while. Instead of refunding me what I paid they gave me a discount on what I bought today. I didn’t argue, I don’t want to make a scene. Trying to be polite and civilized and there was a lot of customers there I didn’t want to make a big deal. I got the food home and it was not as good as before. Soggy very salty oily egg roll and soggy very salty pork fried rice.
Take care

Ordered grub hub. Food was disgusting. No flavor. Ribs were dry and dumplings were stuck together .
