El Rancho Reviews
their food is well seasoned and authentic Dominican cuisine.
great food and friendly atmosphere
The reviews by Ester Delapaz and Santiago De La Paz have left out many details of their own incompetence and inconsideration of people in the service industry. I was present for the entire interaction of them berating and harassing the woman in charge of serving them. They demanded she break restaurant protocols of serving sizes that are rules set by the owner, not her, because they were cheap people looking for a hand out and feel entitled to have everyone bend over backwards...read full review

El Rancho Tropical, located in downtown Norwich, may not stand out for its atmosphere, but it certainly shines in terms of food. Known for their authentic and delicious meals, the restaurant offers a variety of dishes from appetizers like wings, empanadas, and fries, to breakfast options such as sandwiches, pancakes, and omelets. Lunch choices include burgers, grilled cheese, and soup, while dinner options feature dishes like bistec encebollado, rice and beans, pork shoulder, and platanos. For dessert, customers can enjoy flan, tres leche cake, or an apple Danish. The restaurant is described as a "hole in the wall" or a "best kept secret" with food that rivals the fanciest establishments. In addition to their unique menu, they offer Mexican Coke and Pepsi made with real sugar. Recent reviews highlight the quick and accurate takeout service, with favorites like flauntas, green salsa, and thick guacamole. Customers also praise the large portions of guacamole and the delicious tamales. One reviewer mentioned that the beans needed salt but still considered it 100% worth a visit and plans to dine in next time for the full experience. Another customer, coming from NYC, enjoyed the Sopes with bistec, white rice beans, and pernil, calling it some of the best they’ve ever had, and appreciated the great customer service.
