I have ordered enchiladas for years. Today I had take out enchiladas and instead of crapes they were I think fried in a batter with hardly any beef or cheese. They were terrible I am totally disappointed with the meal. I always bragged on how good the enchiladas were never again. I’m sorry I will probably never come back. Food is expensive I will spend the word. Cut backs are terrible.

The food here is not good enough for what the price is. Staff is the only good part. We payed $60 for two meals. Wish I bought two lobster rolls instead.

We were there for a Birthday party so there was no problem with tables and everything was paid for all the food was great.

Our dinner was delayed a while only to discover they ran out of a main ingredient. However, back up meal was on them so they made it right. Enchiladas were fair...on the cold side...I'm guessing this was related to the aforementioned error. Overall a positive experience.

First time visiting. Waited just under an hour between ordering and getting food. I would normally understand except for the fact that our server did not come by a single time during that period. For the last 30 min of that hour we were in need of both chip and water refills. We even asked other servers for help but didn’t receive refills until after our food arrived. Overall bland food except for the guacamole which was the one bright spot. Do not plan to come back which is a shame due to how fun the atmosphere is.

We had the pleasure of having Phillip as our server on our recent visit to Cuckoo’s Nest in Old Saybrook, and he was fantastic! Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, he made our night out even more enjoyable. His great service and positive attitude truly stood out—Cuckoo’s Nest is lucky to have him!

Want a good Michelada?? This is where to get one!! Food is decent. My steak quesadilla was a bit too greasy for me only ate half, took the meat out and mixed with some rice and beans. Daughter enjoyed the birria quesadilla and Grand Princess like her cheese one. The rice and beans were good.

Nice lively spot. The manager was really nice - kept going to the tables to check on people. Nice to have that kind of service and attention. The waitress seemed to have too many tables (took a while to get our drinks and check after)but she made it work.

I've lived in town for years and finally decided to try this restaurant, given its reputation as one of the best in the area. Unfortunately, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. The experience was disappointing from start to finish. Our drinks didn’t arrive until after the appetizers, and when the food finally came, only part of our group was served. What did arrive was some of the most inauthentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. It took another 20 minutes before our friend received their meal.

We raised our concerns with our waitress, and the manager, Sarah, came over but instead of being understanding or helpful, she was rude, dismissive, and downright unpleasant. As someone who dines out locally on a regular basis, I can confidently say I won’t be returning. I’d strongly encourage others to take their business elsewhere.

Food was good.
We were surprised to be seated up on 2nd floor looking at a wall while there were seats in lower level.

I am certain it would have been a different experience.

Rated top Mexican?
Not sure about that.

This place has been around for ages, used to come here in the 80s with my mom, and came back to town this year for her 75th birthday.

Seems like the second floor is no longer being used, but there is an outdoor area and plenty of seating inside. Food is a strange mix of Mexican and Cajun. Guacamole was good, a little heavy on the lime. Gazpacho was good, my pork belly tacos were a bit of a disappointment.

Service was good, the patio was a little humid for my liking but things were clean and roomy.

Really good food and atmosphere - I love the old barn feel and the enchiladas we great. I would say they have greatly improved over the last few years, so I recommend trying them again if you haven't been there in a while.
