Underwhelming visit to PLP. Sat in bar which was our preference. Loud vibe but expected. Very basic Irish pub atmosphere. Nothing stands out. Basic is the word to describe the room. Could use a makeover. Nice people; accommodating waiter. Food arrived quickly but not made with love. Reuben biggest disappointment. Dry corned beef, very little TI dressing, and little flavor. Onion rings the highlight. Big and flavorful. Three burgers were dry and bland, even the lamb. No flavor explosions here sadly. Chocolate chip cookie pie just a slice of cookie batter, again no love, with one scoop of ice cream. We look for more pride in product, food prepared obviously with love, and bursting with flavor. Have a beer, skip the food; too many choices on the shoreline to return here.
The food was very good The table was a bit small for 3 people and there was too many things on it resulting in 2 spilled drinks Service was good Very loud Would probably visit again
A comfortable, casual pub with friendly service and great food. Always a great experience.
We went to the Penny Lane before going to the Kate to see a show. Food selection was very good, portions were large and the meatloaf was very good. There was entertainment in the bar, a guitar player who played a mix of Christmas songs and others. Our waiter Brian was very good and made sure we had what we needed. I would go back to the restaurant when we are in the area.
We were in town for a show at The Kate. We enjoyed our meals and our server was excellent! We will be back when we are in town!
Come every year as part of our holiday tradition along with the Santa Essex Train. We love it here!
Great staff!!!! Charming local pub we've been dining here for years . The food is made from scratch including salad dressing. They recently added chicken pot pie to the menu that's is absolutely delicious! Nightly specials always a hit. Cornbeef Rueban one of the best around using brisket NOT deli meat like most restaurants. Everything on their menu is delicious! Always a fun cocktail menu to choose from and local beers on tap nice selection!!
Well we had reservations for 6:00 on a Saturday evening. Got in promptly. The waitress was just ok. Not very pleasant. At 7:00 as soon as we were done eating our waitress handed us our bill without even asking if we would like coffee or dessert. We were basically subtly getting told we had to leave. We called her over and she abruptly said we're closing at 7:00 today because of a private party, when clearly the website said they close at 10. We were with family that we don't see that often and asked why when we called for reservations we weren't informed of this. We would have made other plans if we were told they would be closing at 7. She was extremely rude and the food was ok. Needless to say, we won't be back to this restaurant.
Food was okay...love the Beatles. Try it.

We started with the roasted Brussel sprouts - excellent! The autumn sangrias were yummy. I had the pulled pork, and my friend had the crab cake - both were very good. I had the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert - probably the best I've ever had. My friend had the chocolate chip cookie pie - also very good. Cute place. We were seated right next to the entertainment, so that was kind of loud and made conversation difficult.
Local regular stop. Sit at the bar and want for nothing.Lamb burger was heavenly.

Great little Pub. We always go here before events at The Kate. Mainly because they have a good menu for Vegan diets, the food is delicious and our server, Eleizabeth, was excellent. She knew we were running late so she made sure we were done in time to see the show. Will return
Definitely didn't live up to the reviews I read. Food wasnt fresh, service & food was slow, even though we placed our order as soon as the server greeted us (party of 2).
Penny Lane is a sponsor of The Kate, where we are members and attend shows several times a year. We'd never been to Penny Lane before so we made reservations for dinner before the show (this was a good move, people coming in with us had to wait for a table). It's a relaxed, fun bar atmosphere and they had live music (2 guys who were pretty good playing). They offered us a table right next to them and it wasn't too loud and we chatted with the bass player. Service was good, one of us had the crab cake burger and the other had a rueben. Both meals were good, it was a perfect dinner before the show. We live about an hour away but we'll come here before a show again or when we are in the area we'll make it a point to come in for a drink and something to eat. If you're going to a show at The Kate, make a reservation about an hour before the show and let them know. It was like Sardi's before a show on Broadway (kind of!)
