Varied menu, agreeable atmosphere and genial and attentive wait staff. We especially appreciate the live music.
We were a group of 7 adults in our 70's. We had a reservation for 5:30. When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to eat outside or inside. We chose to eat inside. The hostess said she had a table upstairs (no elevator). We went upstairs and were brought to a high top table. We said we could not sit at a high top. There was an empty table set for 6 and several smaller empty tables. Hostess told us that the table for 6 was reserved for someone else. So she said she could seat us outside. So we all walked back down the stairs and out to a back patio with several empty tables. It was very hot, very sunny, very uncomfortable and lots of big black flying bugs. Some tables had umbrellas but not big enough or angled correctly to keep the sun off us. Food was very good. But not a good dining experience.
Food wasn't bad but wasn't great. Fish (from fish and chips) was soggy, reuben was very good, Cobb salad was just ok (tomatoes weren't fresh). Our waitress was very nice but didn't check on us after the food arrived until we were all done, so our drinks were all empty.
First trip to Penny Lane Pub. Really enjoyed it. The food, service, and outdoor area were all great. Will be back again soon.

The food was delicious! We were a party of four and all agreed the food was great. The service however was just adequate but not great.
We enjoyed this restaurant very much. The pretzel bites and salmon entree were extremely good.
We were attending a concert at The Kate and I found your restaurant - my daughter highly recommended it. The proximity to the venue is a short walk so this was the place. It was summer, a bit hot and the AC in the restaurant was great. We waited for our 4th guest who was stuck at the venue as she is involved in the band mgmt. Unfortunately, she was not able to join us. The three of us all ordered the Chicken Milanese I think it was. We also had a bottle of wine and calamari app. All of the food was fantastic! So impressed with the freshness of the vegetables and the avocado. The service was good - our waitress was a little overwhelmed with the influx of diners but apologized sweetly - she was fine. We all had a magnificent summer evening as a result.
Enjoyable dinner - good food, service was great and we ate outdoors. They have created a little area behind the restaurant with tables on astro- turf.
Excellent food choices, everything we ate was delicious. The service was excellent, food came out in a timely manner.

Steak and salmon dishes were delicious. Great beer selection. Eating outside was quiet and peaceful.
Great place to take the family for a meal. The food is consistently good, service is friendly and very accommodating to kids, and the prices are reasonable. One of our go-to restaurants in the area.
Very disappointed by the menu and the ambiance —did not measure up to the history Penny Lane
We had the Brussel sprouts, steak and frites. All delicious! My husband said his brandy old fashioned sweet was the best he'd ever had. Would definitely go back when visiting Old Saybrook.
The place looks nice. Service was nice but slow. Definitely need more staff. It took forever to get a drink. Food comes out before your drinks are even made. I bet a lot of nice restaurants and this is definitely just bar food. Against staff was nice, but super slow.
