When I discovered Roxbury Market in the eighties, it soon became one of my favorite destinations. I lived in Bethel, but I’d drive up to Roxbury several times a week for sandwiches. It was remodeled sometime in the nineties, and the small back room had tables to enjoy meals with friends. We’d meet there by Jeep, motorcycle, or whatever and sit for an hour sharing a great sandwich, coffee and soft drinks. I moved to Florida in 2004 and miss the Marketplace. But we manage to...
Walked into this place as it was closing and all the lights were already turned off. The owner was so accommodating - he let us use the restroom and turned the lights and music back on while we made some purchases. Very cool, laid back atmosphere, with good music and lots of food choices. We bought snacks and didn't get to try any of the sandwiches or coffee, but will definitely come back when in the area again. Place was very clean and organized.
Apparently mud is an issue here. Anyway, it's clean inside, coffee was good and very inexpensive compared to on the shore. It's the only game in town and it's convenient. Service is friendly. Architecture fits the historic character of the village, which is a big plus. Altogether a nice place to stop for gas, etc.
