I have loved having teriaki at the top of Stamford Mall for over 10 years. Maybe because Ichiban is so good. It might be odd for CT, but back in L.A. a great chicken teriyaki lunch is king. There used to be other good food at the mall food court but now its mostly junk food, except for Ichiban.
Ichiban is my favorite restaurant in the Stamford Town Center! I love the chicken teriyaki combo meal! It includes chicken teriyaki, vegetable fried rice or lo mein noodles, and vegetables. (I always get the lo mein noodles, but the vegetable fried rice looks tasty, too.) I like that I can watch the chef grill the chicken teriyaki and vegetables while I wait. Almost hidden at the far end of the food court at the Stamford mall, it doesn't catch your eye immediately but to us regulars it's the definition of Japanese takeout/fast food. The food is good, not heavy or too greasy despite the oil they squirt unto the meat during the grilling process. Still their teriyaki chicken is soft and succulent. Their seasoning and salt are minimal but along with the always fresh veggies the result is healthy and satisfying food even if a little bland....read full review
