When I tell you that I had the most disturbing experience this evening after placing an order through Grub Hub for 2 orders of their fried jumbo shrimp, I can’t even express what an understatement that is.I’m actually contemplating going to an ER to make sure I didn’t swallow any of the sharp METAL I found fried into the batter of one of my shrimp. I think I would have felt something so sharp against my teeth before swallowing but I am so anxious right now I’m not sure and I don’t really know what to do in this moment but report this to all of you. I’m thinking maybe I should wait to see if I develop any pain. Again, I’m not sure what to do.I’m just going to attach the photos to this review so you can all see for yourselves. Before this happened, I was really enjoying my food too. Now I’m just in panic mode. BEWARE!!!Ps: I contacted the restaurant to inform them of my finding and urged them to run into the kitchen and dispose of their batter and to throw out anything that was already battered. If anyone does in fact swallow something like this, they may be in trouble. The woman I spoke to told me the manager was not there and I have no idea what their role there even is but I hope they take my phone call serious to protect other guest. She even went on to say that she thought she might know what it was based on the description I gave her. This would imply that this piece of metal came from something that is regularly in their kitchen. I’ll attach unedited photos so you all can see for yourselves.
They said New England has the best seafood due to proximity to the sea and ocean. So, we tried to have some. We were in Stamford and dined in Shells Seafood and Wings. The food were delicious and tasty. You can tell they were fresh to cook that night. They were flavorful. I would definitely come back if I’m in Stamford.
Stopped for Dinner after reading good reviews. Had Snow Crab Legs & Lobster Tail! Really good would definitely recommend!
Bartender is awesome he makes some great drinks plus he actually listens to the customer to make sure the drink is the way they like it. Staff is also very nice, food is good but I'm not a fan of the upon noodles to thick for me but taste wise is good. They use baby clams though for the boil which I didn't like but besides that the food is good so far.
So happy we tried this new restaurant in downtown Stamford. Great cocktails- cranberry Margarita was amazing! Excellent appetizers and very good, fresh seafood entrees. Staff was very attentive.
This place is really good and I recommend trying it out. We went during happy hour and we got two appetizers which was fried oysters and coconut shrimp. I didn’t take a picture because we were so hungry I forgot to take one. The fried oysters were okay I never had it before so it was new to me and the coconut shrimp was delicious. I had many coconut shrimps and this one was up there. Then we got two drinks. I got the drink That’s Caribbean and it was fine . Tasted like pineapple juice to me. My boyfriend got a whiskey drink. It was strong. Our seafood boil was shrimp, crawfish and crab and we got the shells sauce with a side of fries and it was sooo good! The boil comes with potatoes and corn. The sauce is full of flavor and we got mild spice and it had a good kick to it. Not that spicy to us. It was super filling and the price is good, maybe since we went during happy hour our appetizers and drink were discounted. Super good! We were soo full at the end of it.It was go good I went back a week later for the lunch and it was still good and also very filling. The tray with the rice is the lunch special. I got shrimp with rice with the shells special sauce. 10/10
I went for lunch yesterday about 3:00 o'clock it was cold I wanted some soup and we wanted drinks. I ordered the Clam Chowder and some of the potatoes are hard. I told the waitress Brianna about it she offered to change it but stated I would still have to pay for it because I tasted it. Yeah ok. The only thing they offered to drink was beer and wine because Brianna said she didnt know how to make drinks and she didnt want to mess it up and the Bartender doesn't come in until 4. We ordered the 15 wings Garlic Parm,Buffalo, Sweet Chilli they were good and I like the fact that you can mix up the flavors. The calamari was good to not rubbery. I ordered the boil which came with crab, lobster, and shrimp I added clams to the bag it was fresh seafood, not over cooked at all and overall pretty good I didn't like the fact the clams were so tiny for $14.00 a pound. I always order my sauce on the side and I must say the garlic butter sauce was fire. So after we ate the Manager Drew came over to say hello I advised him about the soup we talked about the menu he took the soup off the bill and gave me a gift card. Brianna later tried to clean up the fact that she told me I couldn't change the soup stating that's what she was told but she never asked anyone when I told her the potatoes were hard she looked at me and stated she couldnt change it she never left the table to even ask if she could change it. So there it is. Try it out but go after 4:00 that's when Drew the Bartender/Manager is there.
Nicely priced, very good seasonings and meal portions. The staff work extremely well and efficiently together. Now I see why they market their Wings, as much as their Seafood Boils; their Lemon Pepper and their Sweet Chili wings can beat most wings restaurants!
Simply delicious!! Excellent value for the amount of food you get. Large shrimp, crawfish, mussels, potatoes, and corn.
i loved this place ! the food is good but the workers were so nice and when the girl saw that i was almost done with my water she brought me a new cup.
Restaurantji Recommends
It is great to see a shellfish boil type establishment in Stamford… the city really needed a spot like this! I highly recommend going - only reason for the 4 star is the restaurant is going through some growing pains - which is fine and I’m sure they will address.
So delicious and so cozy please. Thank chef for best cat fish and clam chowder in the world
First the staff are the nicest ladies. Oh and the food is very good as you can see in my pictures. Btw spicy does stay with you so don't go too hot.
Shells Boil & Grill recently opened so I checked it out. I stopped in for lunch at 1:15 PM. There was one other table of two making a total of three customers. The restaurant was cold, like “save the heat” cold. If there’s one thing that makes it tough to enjoy a restaurant is feeling cold, this was 64 degrees, making hot food “not so hot”...The menu seems hit & miss. There’s lots of seafood (shellfish) on the menu, but it’s tough to order a plate for a single diner. It’s more geared toward a table of 4+ people .. platters of seafood, sides, fried stuff, etc.The food I ordered was “OK” but nothing memorable. Fried Oysters we’re dry and overly breaded, signs they were frozen just minutes prior. The teriyaki chicken looked like OK but lacked depth of flavor & tenderness…. without changes, this place looks like a short term option…
Food was absolutely amazing! The combo bags were full of flavor and even though it doesn’t seem like a lot of food, it does fill you up. Highly recommend it if you’re craving southern style seafood
