What restaurant you're eating at seems to depend on what time of day. The Oar and Oak is their evening restaurant, and the Oar and Oak Birdhouse is their lunch name. At one point, pre-Covid, there had been two different physical locations, but now here we are, asking questions of the waiter on a random weekend because it's confusing. The current restaurant is in a small shopping plaza, with several parking spots specifically reserved right in front. It's next to a liquor store who have their own spots. The inside is made of booths and longer tables for sitting. The rest room is curiously located behind the last booth and a narrow gap in the wall. The waiter was also prepping the bar, but very attentive. Lunch was a price fixe, a great way to get brussel sprouts with your cheeseburger. The sprouts were crispy and had little bits of delicious bacon. Because of the restaurant lighting, they're a little hard to see. The burger was one of the best done I've had in while. Good cheese ratio, well seasoned, and moist without being gross and soaking the bun.

When we walked in, we were expecting more of a sit down restaurant, but it only had like 2 tables. I didn't mind that though. It was a chill place and we decided to eat there. I really liked my chicken sandwich. It had a good kick and the fries were also really good. The chicken patty was pretty big as well! Definitely recommend trying!

Stopped in here for something quick. Chicken sandwich was alright. Almost positive that the Mac and cheese was Kraft, so that was disappointing.

Forever on the hunt for the best fried chicken sandwich. Thought nothing could compare to one I discovered at SAW's Soul Kitchen in Birmingham, Alabama. But The Classic here at Oar & Oak Birdhouse is every bit as good and I did not even try the various specialty versions! The chicken breast meat was hot and juicy and the crispy outside bursted with flavor highlighted by crispy dill pickles and a delicious spicy ranch. What a mouthful! I call it a tie and will be back to both as often as possible! You should as well!
I just had the classic chicken sandwich and the cornbread. I’m serious when I tell you this is the best chicken sandwich I had in CT. This place is really a hidden gem. I could definitely come again

We stumbled on this place while looking for something to eat while at Bridgeport hospital - it's only 8 min drive. We ordered for take out, food was ready within 20 mins. We had a burger and the classic chicken sandwich, both surprised to the upside! Food was delicious! Very flavorful and fresh. The sandwiches looked just like the food photography on the site! Brussels and fries were great too. I'll definitly be coming back
