Excellent pastrami Reuben. Plenty of tender meat. Well worth the trip. Highly recommend and a much shorter trip to Brooklyn. Reminded me of the delis that I went to with my grandfather as a child.

I ordered the 1st cut fesser. Highly recommended with a nice amount of meat.

Great pickles - reminded me of my grandfather’s.

This is an update from a recent trip .Below this review is my review from 3 years ago ... Unfortunately Rein's has changed the quality of the food they are serving . I drove 45 minutes to have dinner with family to enjoy the fantastic meal I had come to expect. I got my typical pastrami on rye and a side potato knish... From the moment I took a bite I knew something was off... I immediately knew they were not using Hebrew national pastrami anymore. I called over the waitress to have my worst fear confirmed. They no longer were using Hebrew national. The pastrami they were using was typical Low-Grade deli meat pastrami you would get at restaurants that don't care about quality. It had an awful smoky flavor, most likely due to liquid smoke. The knish was half the size it used to be. To be honest, I felt nothing but disappointment. Sadness knowing that I could no longer enjoy a traditional Jewish deli sandwich in Connecticut.

I grew up in Brooklyn with great deli food. When I moved to Connecticut that was one thing that was missing from my cuisine. Luckily, many years ago I found out about Ryan's deli in Vernon. Depending where I have lived it's been a 30 minutes to 1 hour drive to get there. In my opinion it's been worth the drive every time.

You can get authentic matzo ball soup, corned beef, pastrami, and many other cold cuts on delicious rye bread. The offer potato knishes kasha knishes and many more delicacies. They also offer some of their food in the frozen section or refrigerator section that you can take home to heat up later.

If you grew up going to Jewish delis this is the place in Connecticut where you can get authentic Jewish delicatessen food.

If you have never been to a Jewish deli, then you don't know what you're missing, And I highly recommend that you give Ryan's New York deli a try.

We went there on Sunday afternoon after not going for years and it didn’t disappoint. We didn’t eat in because it was packed and we didn’t want to wait so we ordered take out instead and while we were waiting we found a sour cream coffee cake, a crumb coffee cake and garlic stuffed olives that we took home with us. All of which were delicious! The sandwiches had a generous portion of meat. I had the pastrami on rye and it was excellent, the bread was so fresh and soft and very tasty and the pastrami was very good quality. My husband has the turkey on wheat and he said his bread was the softest bread he has ever had and loved every bite of his sandwich. We definitely won’t wait so long to go back. The staff was amazing as well, everyone was so friendly and helpful, they clearly pick their staff well.

Food is always fantastic. We stop here on the way from Northern Mass to Maryland every time we go through the area. We would stop every time for the half-sour pickles and cheesecake alone, but they provide a great meal as well.

***DISAPPOINTMENT WITH CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP***

I live up in NH, and this place was highly recommended from ppl up here. Also, it's highly recommended from multiple online sites. I finally got the opportunity to check this place out this past wknd. Awesome vibes and set up inside. They're known for their pastrami and roast beef sandwiches. I bought a pastrami sandwich and chicken noodle soup w/ matzo balls.

- Pastrami sandwich: Very good! I do highly recommend you try this for yourself, especially with Swiss cheese and mustard

- ***Chicken soup w/ matzoh balls: The Mateo balls - delicious! Chicken and noodles - DISAPPOINTING. Absolutely NO chicken and a microdose of noodles. This place, could've been a 'bad batch,' rips you off from chicken and noodles. This needs to be fixed.***
