DUNYA is a great Middle Eastern restaurant and market. The food is excellent, vibrant, full of flavor, and delicious. The hummus is clearly homemade and silky, while the baba ganoush has real smoky depth. The lamb bebab was amazing and perfectly spiced. Chicken kebabs are juicy, and the shawarma is warm, aromatic, and layered with spice. Mixing the tabouli with the dunya salad and rice with chicken shawarma is amazing. The Iraqi Chicken Sandwich is absolutely phenomenal, with tender and boldly seasoned chicken. The falafel is crisp outside and vibrant inside. The pita was awful, as it came from a bag. Portions are reasonable. The market is a treasure with authentic meats, cheeses, spices, and specialty ingredients. Everything is halal and incredibly fresh. Service is always spot on, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Prices are better than most similar places. DUNYA is one of the best hidden gems and easily one of the best places in Waterbury.
