I have never in my life written a review for a restaurant before, but then again I’ve never had such an amazing restaurant review like I did here. My friend and I have a tradition of trying new restaurants together and decided to try Avert this Sunday. The restaurant was absolutely adorable, very relaxed while also maintaining a classy environment. I was simply obsessed! The food was FANTASTIC! The escargots are buttery and herby, borderline addictive. I ordered the chicken fricassee. I never order chicken when out, I have always felt like it’s typically such an easy meal to make, but the description called to me and my GOODNESS I haven’t had anything quite like it. So comforting and flavorful, and enough food to bring a good amount home for leftovers. But the SERVICE here was truly what was outstanding. Our waitress, Cindy, was so personable and kind. She gave us recommendations and was attentive throughout. She was absolutely amazing, as was all the other wait staff. If you haven’t tried Avert - add it to your bucket list immediately! It will not disappoint.

This place was a small but nice French restaurant. The prices were reasonable and food was delicious. The place wasn't necessarily packed, but it was extremely busy. Unfortunately we had a waiter who was serving majority of the tables at the place, so there was a long wait time to place our order, get our coffee, get bread and eventually get our food. Once we got out food, it was faster to get the bill and to-go boxes.I would definitely recommend the home fries amd the waffles. However, I would NOT recommend the orange juice. Although we did not order any, I saw one of the waiters bringing bags of OJ cartons from outside in a plastic bag... So definitely not freshly squeezed!

Avert provides delicious French bistro cuisine, which is very hard to find in this part of Connecticut. The steak tartare wasn't our favorite, but to be fair, that's a dish that varies in the balance of ingredients from place to place and chef to chef. Everything else was quite delicious and a good example of French bistro cooking. Our duck and steak frites were delicious. The service was also very helpful. It was a busy night when we arrived, and though we had a reservation, our table was unfortunately right outside the entrance where guests were constantly walking in our space. We asked if we could move to a less busy table, if one opened up, and our request was graciously received. In a few minutes, we were moved to a table where we were able to relax and enjoy our meal.If I'm in town and looking for a nice French bistro meal, Avert is at the top of my list.

Delicious food, awesome service ... thank you Sean (he was very professional, personable, and always carried a great smile even after a long day of work). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, onion soup, cassoulet, filet, chocolate mousse - rich dark chocolate, black forest cake was deliciously light (more like a light creme mousse than actual cake), creme brulee was superb!

I will be very straightforward about this - there is no diversity in the food options, everything has meat in it somewhere, as a religious person I can only eat some meats. The vegetarian options had no effort put into them, it was just raw veggies slapped in a plate and tossed on your table. I will say it again and again, this was a different level of disappointment. And please teach the waiters how to hold plates, they broke 3 of them. I'm speechless at this place. I genuinely wish that I didn't go here, because it has lost my respect for all european/french food in general. I would say this again and again to the person in charge if I could. It's ridiculous.

This was our first visit to a'Vert Brasserie but it won't be our last. A step inside takes you to the streets of Paris with its old world charm. We began with two cocktails - smoked Manhattan and La Fleur which was mine - a delicious culmination of vanilla vodka, St. Germain, passion flower and a dusted rose. This was fantastic. Creamy smooth and delightful. Leo was our server and he was very informative about the various menu options. We shared a charcuterie board with 2 meats and 2 cheeses, bread, Dijon mustard, apple compote and marinated veggies. This followed by their onion soup. Freshly made with bread and topped with melted Gruyère cheese. If you have nothing else at a'Vert go for the onion soup! My main was an omelette with wild mushrooms and Gruyère. A perfect brunch combination. We will be returning for dinner in the near future. Convenient on street or municipal parking lots and free on Sunday!

Everything we had at A’vert was a 10/10! This was a spot that had been on my restaurant bucket list that definitely lived up to the hype. All of the meats were cooked perfectly, and the cheese fondue and croquette appetizers really hit the spot. Decadent desserts - we especially loved the profiteroles! It has a nice vibe in there and is perfect for any occasion, whether you’re looking to go out with friends and family, or have a date night. The staff was attentive as well!
