We have been going to Barcelonas for years. We moved out of state several years ago and came back recently to visit family. We wanted to have dinner at Barcelona.
As always great wine selection and amazing bar service but sadly once seated at our table the wait staff service diminished. Food was salty and meatballs were dry. We understood the Paella would take 45 to make but when we approached the one hour mark (restaurant was empty) I got frustrated and then it was extremely salty. If we return we will stick to sitting at the bar and enjoying some wonderful wine and cheese.

Nice spot, very busy, recommend reservations as they are pretty busy at night. Food is good, decent. Drinks are okay, nice wine selection.

From start to finish, our first experience at Barcelona Wine Bar in Blue Back Square was nothing short of exceptional — and the credit goes to the amazing manager Shauna. Shauna is the kind of person who turns a great night into an unforgettable one. Her presence is magnetic — warm, welcoming, and effortlessly professional. The moment we arrived, she greeted us with genuine kindness and made us feel like valued guests, not just another table. Throughout the evening, we watched her seamlessly manage the floor, support her team, and still find time to check in on guests with sincere interest and care. She even recommended a few dishes and wine pairings that ended up being some of the best we’ve ever had — it’s clear she knows her menu inside and out and truly wants everyone to have an incredible dining experience. What stood out most was how much pride she takes in her work. You can feel it in the atmosphere — the staff are happy, the service is smooth, and the attention to detail does not go unnoticed. It’s rare to see leadership like that, and it made a huge impression. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Restaurants like this are special — and leaders like Shauna are the reason why.

Always a great time at this location, Chris took such great care of me and my friends, will definitely be back. Amazing food and somehow even better service.

This is a casual restaurant with a great wine menu but rather ordinary tapas. However, there was one dish that was outstanding, and that was the Black Bass with Chickpeas. The Steak Paillard was tasty according to my husband.

We had a reservation at 8:00pm, but weren’t sat till 8:30pm. It was West Hartford on a Friday so honestly, most restaurants were a little behind. We got a drink at the bar and they were great! They seemed a little slammed with not enough servers, but we ordered everything at once and food came out at a good steady pace. Most of the dishes were really good. Charcuterie was fantastic - specifically the jamon mangalica and delice de Bourgogne. I specifically ordered multiple orders of boquerones (would have eaten ten plates of that) and the olive oil cake was to die for. The meatballs, potato tortilla, steak paillard, crispy calamari, and croquetas were all solid. The salmon and sea bass were underwhelming - cooked perfectly, but just…boring and plain. The paella mariscos was unfortunately burnt and stuck to the pan. The mushrooms were tragically bad, ours were definitely not cooked in sherry and tasted like mushroom water.
Honestly, even though we got two dishes that weren’t great, would definitely go back for drinks and charcuterie and boquerones. We still had a great night with our friends.

Came at 9pm on a Friday, was able to sit as a walk in. Great atmosphere. Dos peninsulas is a really good drink. Mussel portion was far too small, especially for the price.

I've been dining at Barcelona West Hartford 29 years. This is a high quality restaurant in every way - Spanish cuisine authenticity, vibe, decor, cocktails, service, and management. Shout out to Manager, Matt. Many thanks.
