I used to come here all the time. The owner is very friendly. The place is always packed. We decided to stop by for brunch on Saturday. Unfortunately, we were greeted by what seemed to be a very unhappy staff. He didn’t smile, brought us to a booth then tossed our menus on the table. He proceeded to asked us what we’d like to drink then thrusted the drinks on the table then walked away. Our server was pleasant, but seemed rushed to get our order and never filled up my water. The food was just ok, not great.

My mom & I were just out of staters passing through originally I was trying to find a place that has fried whole belly clams but the time we had our traumatic experience in NY on 7-16-24, we just wanted to go to a diner and get back on the road to head home. We walked in and immediately greeted by their host with a smile, I don't remember his name but he was friendly and so welcoming, host with the most that even brought my mom a bowl of soup! It wasn't a loud place, calm and quiet, no music. Like you can hear the other person talk to you while sitting and eating your meal. Some diners have music blaring and/or tvs too loud, etc. I ordered the BBQ Ribs but I have a sensitivity to spices so the BBQ sauce had a bit of a kick to it which is not their fault at all. The BBQ ribs were just like the ones my mom makes at home so she actually ended up eating them while I had the creamy mashed potatoes and their chicken orzo soup which is very good and tasty! My mom even when she makes her own BBQ ribs at home, she can never eat a half rack let alone a full rack. And she ate the entire rack of ribs that I ordered, I was surprised to see that but just goes to show you that this restaurant did the impossible and got my mom to clean a plate with ribs on it.
Our server, Jane was great and took the initiative! She was also friendly and helpful. Do you know how many times I go to a place and order ribs even at a chain restaurant and they never think to bring an additional plate or bag for the rib bones? Well done for going above and beyond. I would recommend this place. If we ever go back, we would definitely come back to eat here again. I now eat my mom's homemade chicken soup with orzo pasta in it, tastes amazing! They don't have seafood which is great advantage since my mom has crustaceans allergy and can't eat out almost anywhere.

I had eggs, bacon, a waffle with blueberries, coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The coffee was delicious. The waffle and blueberries were excellent. The eggs were perfectly cooked in butter, and the bacon -nice and well done. My best breakfast of the month!

While traveling with my family from Fort Lauderdale Florida and Atlanta, Georgia, to Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard, this was my family's first experience visiting Sherwood Diner at 901 Post Road East Westport, CT 06880. I must say that everything about this place was wonderful!!! Food was hot, fresh and delicious with large portions. The atmosphere and location were awesome, only approximately 2 miles from I-95. Staff and guests were friendly. Our waiter Armando, kindly replaced a dish of a minor error on our order and also removed the charge. Very fair service! We will definitely be returning on our next vacation!!!

The food is consistently excellent and the staff top-notch. Our party of 4 arrived 5 minutes before the kitchen closed on a Tuesday night so we offered to leave. The staff welcomed us and said "just order quickly and we can get you dinner." One salad with protein, one egg dish, a club sandwich and pancakes and bacon (plus drinks) were served simultaneously. Everyone noted how good the food was.
Not only weren't we rushed, we were encouraged to relax and enjoy the meal - which we did!
