Outdated. Tried to find a decent italian resturaunt and this is not it. Had to send food back, we had a party of 3 and each of our dishes was unacceptable. Chewy chicken, pasta sauce was flavorless. The cook would not come to our table to discuss our food quality concerns. The appetizers were ok but the pasta dishes were horrible. We ended up paying our bill and returning our main courses and leaving.

Honestly would give this place less than a star if I could. Only good thing about this place was the one woman working on the floor, she was very kind. However the food was disappointing and disgusting… for being labeled as an Italian restaurant, their Italian dishes are very poor. My partner and I were stuck there for 2 entire hours. 1 1/2 hours later we got out food, I wish I was joking. I promise you don’t want to go here. I have no idea how they are still in business.

Let me tell you about this amazing place in our small but great little town Winsted:
Went there for the first time with my partner and our 20 month old just missing our 8 year old to be a complete gvfamily outing but definitely intending to be going again, food was amazing calamari was cooked to perfection that even our daughter loved it, then we moved on to the clams with garlic sauce and once again our daughter loved that as well, for myself I ordered the New York strip cooked to temp with owners own recipe peppercorn sauce which has no words to how good it was even my partner not a steak lover wanted seconds and as did our daughter. With all this said and all our daughter ate we ordered her her own order of mozzarella which was a fresh cut square breaded and fried to order and she ate it all full happy tummy with all staff and customers stocked and amazed of her eating and happiness she had throughout the night thank you for the end of our Sunday night! It was a pleasure meeting you and will be back again, and hope this bring more guest in!

This is an amazing restaurant. The owner makes everything himself! The owner and the servers are extremely charismatic. Shoutout Nicole and Mike! This is our weekly fix for Italian.

Tonight was our first time ordering from Monacos, after deciding to try somewhere new. My partner and I are winsted natives and thought, let's give Monacos a try! We haven't heard anything about them....well....now I know why no one's ever recommended.
I am surprised to report, that may have been the most bland, badly prepared dinner I've ever gotten as takeout before. I understand some food doesn't travel well, but that wasn't the issue at all. I ordered chicken piccata, which I'm used to grabbing and bringing home from other restaurants. Upon opening, I was met with the smell of an undercooked wine sauce. The thinnest, most bland sauce I have ever encountered. I was surprised not to find the pasta in the container. I opened a small container, and there was my pasta that I planned to put in the piccata sauce, covered with the most absolute worst red sauce I have ever encountered in my life. Tasted worse than jarred sauce, no spices, broke to liquid and some mush....it's a good thing the bread mentioned on the menu was not included, I had planned to dip it in the sauces. At least maybe the bread would've stood a chance tasting somewhat good?
My partner ordered fettuccine Alfredo. Very thin and lack there of sauce, not to mention, also the most bland either one of us has ever tasted. If you like buttered noodles trying to pass as fettuccine Alfredo, this is would be great.
Not a big one here, but added to the lack of bread, if you don't have a salad dressing, say so on the phone. Like you did with the other salad dressing we had asked for. I know it's easier to just throw another Italian. I get it. But also...who doesn't have ranch or oil and vinegar? Maybe I'm splitting hairs now. But I am massively salty after the $60 we just wasted. You should give some of that salt to your cook. Although I doubt just seasoning would fix this one.

Monaco’s is a high end restaurant. The quality of the food is superb. It has the best Italian cuisine in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut. It’s has a quiet romantic atmosphere. If you are looking for quality food fine dining. If you are looking for rowdy atmosphere, sports bar .. Monaco’s is not for you... The service is cordial and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone who wants quality dining in a quiet setting.

The restaurant is dated. The waitress we had today was nice, but they brought both of our meals out wrong. So she took them back then we had to wait 15 minutes to get what we actually ordered. When the bill came- they charged us for our meals, I understand mix ups happen but at that point at least send a drink or dessert over. Something. Anything. Nothing was done or sent over- there were a couple sorries and that was about it. I don’t think I would come back due to this experience. The food was also very average.

Sit in bar area enter from back or front. Order the bruschetta. Lots of garlic and fresh tomatoes. Drinks are made strong. Order the tiramisu. It’s the best nothing like it. Even Boston or New York.

The food here is decent. It's a bit pricey when compared to portion size. It honestly seems more like a tapas place to me. Expect to leave hungry. My nephews child sized portion of spaghetti and meatballs was actually larger than my entree.
I ordered the seafood casserole. It came with a tiny house salad (emphasis on tiny), and a side of penne with sauce. The pasta was about 2 tablespoons of pasta and maybe a couple teaspoons of sauce. The seafood casserole although very good came in a 6 inch casserole pan and was less than 1/2" deep. About 6 bites and it was gone.
Our server was very nice although she told my brother he could substitute an item that came with his meal then later another person came out and told him it would be an extra cost. Although when I say "told" what I mean is yelled it across the restaurant. Another gripe was the ridiculous amount of parmesan cheese they brought out for our table of 10. They brought out a single dish with a couple tablespoons of cheese for our entire table and then acted annoyed when we asked for more.
Also there is no parking lot so expect to park either down the street or across 4 lanes of traffic.
Not an unpleasant experience but not really a pleasant one either.

Everything was a hit, the pasta feels and tastes fresh. I ordered the manicotti and was not disappointed. Perfect quiet setting.
