This place took the number one spot for best meat in DC. We got the Afghani Platter which was like a full 5 course meap that was totally worth it and filled us up and more. Their lamb is so incredibly tender and just falls off the bone so well. incredibly perfectly cooked steak as well. Just 10/10 no notes. Would come here again!

I cannot say enough about the service and staff here. Was a super busy night but had a top tier experience because of the ridiculously friendly and humble manager busting his ass, and highly attentive young female server going above and beyond during our dinner.
The food speaks for itself. Seriously the best meal I have ever had. From appetizers to entrees, absolutely delicious. Could not recommend this place more and will be the restaurant I bring all visitors going forward. Well done Afghania.

Afghania is a delicious, warm hug of a restaurant with a wide array of choices for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans. The experience is enhanced by thoughtful, attentive service and a cozy atmosphere. Stairs to the second floor are on the steep side, so the less mobile might wish to opt for ground floor seating.
Our waiter welcomed our questions on the menu and his recommendations were spot on, geared impeccably to our tastes. Our party of three devoured our vegan pumpkin dumplings and Afghania salad, following up with lamb entrees. If you are a lamb devotee, the lamb shank dishes are especially delectable and you can expect to take food home.
Even if you’re not sober-curious, Afghania’s mocktails are worth tasting. Our group loved the sour cherry/lime and cranberry/orange libations, both light and refreshing. We finished the meal by splitting airy slices of chocolate and almond cake.
We look forward to our next visit.

Outstanding restaurant with excellent service and incredible dishes with the special something. Every bite had so much flavor and a clever twist that you couldn‘t wait for the next one. It‘s not cheap but absolutely worth it. My favorite was the Afghania Palou - traditional smoked bone-in lamb shank. 100% recommended.

I had the grilled chicken thigh kebob, and it was very delicious 👌.
My friend had the tenderloin (grilled) l, I tried some of it and it unbelievably juicy. Recommend this place and these dishes highly.
