Tapas menu, so make sure to pick a few things you want to try. Great atmosphere for a gathering with friends or a date night.

Food was good but not amazing, especially not for the price. There are better options in DC for this price range. Service and atmosphere were very nice.

Having visited Agora with 8 family and friends, we can heartily recommend the varied takes on Med dishes and active service with long family-style tables.

We ordered multiple Mezzes to share, of varied styles, all of which were aromatic and with unexpected textures and colors. I also ordered a lamb kebab and we shared warm, soft, pita-type bread. All were excellent.
Servers were adept at taking orders in the noisy hubbub, and passing dishes along from the open end of the table.

The white wines were very acceptable.

Agora is usually crowded and busy in the evenings, so expect a lively dining experience rather than a quiet, conversational one. Nonetheless we were able to understand each other well across the table of eight, if not from one end to the other.
Sorry, given the low lighting for mood, no photos taken this time.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate the entire staff. Everyone does their job incredibly well, I just have to say that. I came to D.C. for vacation, and I've been to this place twice. Everything I ate and drank was delicious, especially the lamb shoulder. I have very positive thoughts about the service. Our waiter, Michaelson (I hope I spelt that correctly), took excellent care of us the first day and answered every question. He seems to have just started the menu, but he was still very knowledgeable. I had a few glasses of beer, and I didn't like one of the different brands, but I finished it anyway. When the waiter asked me if I liked it, I have been honest, and he removed the beer I didn't like from the menu. I hadn't expected that, and I had finished my beer, yet he was very kind. On the second day, Yekta took care of us. He was friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu, and very polite. He gave us a complimentary dessert as well. It's hard to find such excellent service at most places, but I have to say that I was very pleased with my two-day experience at this place.

My boyfriend and I were visiting DC from out of town, and I saw this as a highly rated restaurant close to our hotel so made a reservation in advance to give it a try on our first night. It's been a couple of months so I forget what we ate, but everything was excellent; however, I really wish to commend them for their warm and wonderful service. The server was very thoughtful around my boyfriend's allergy, and dropped by our table to explain which item on the plate may contain the allergen. At the end of the meal, one of the servers accidentally spilled water on our table, which was not a big deal at all, but he went out of his way and gifted us a baklava before we left, which we were totally not expecting. It was such a sweet gesture, and goes to show how much they value their diners's experiences.

Would definitely recommend for both the food, ambiance, and experience!

The overall experience is positive but not as expected, we have been to the Agora in McLean and liked it. This time we found the location a bit disappointing in terms of food quality, the pita bread is lovely and fresh, spreads are nice. But falafels are a bit dry and a few other dishes are a bit below the standard we are used to at the McLean location.
Last but not the least, the billing practice makes us a little uncomfortable. There is a 3.5%~5% service charge which is not paid to the server but used to account for increase in food cost. Shouldn’t this be reflected in the price on the menu? Also a 20% gratuity was automatically added to us party of five guests and no room to adjust or change. And it was not mentioned to us beforehand . Then the tax is calculated on top of the tip . So when I I look at the total it came to 135% of the food price. It could be justified if service is excellent but it’s unpleasant that guests were not given any discretion over how much they are willing to tip.

Pro tip: Skip the table. Dine at the bar and ask for Yekta - he’ll take amazing care of you.

We came to Agora to celebrate a special anniversary brunch, and while the start was a bit rocky with our reservation being placed outside (DC humidity at 98°—definitely a no-go), everything turned around the moment we opted to sit at the bar.

Let me just say, best decision ever.
Our bartender and server, Yekta, was phenomenal. From the moment we sat down, he made us feel genuinely welcomed, took time to explain the menu, and made the entire brunch experience fun and memorable. His recommendations opened our palate to exciting new flavors of Turkish cuisine we hadn’t tried before.

From the perfectly balanced drinks to the flavorful dishes, we left full, happy, and raving about the whole experience. This was truly hospitality at its best.

Atmosphere is chic and inviting. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered the Adana Kabap and Grilled Chicken - both cooked well, but lacking in flavor. Overall, underwhelming on the food front.
