Overall great experience. I don't like service fees and hidden costs though. I would rather just know the cost up front and pay more.
The food was just ok, but the ambiance was great and the value for the all you can eat brunch is a rare find for DC.
My husband is originally from Bosnia and we'd lived there together, so we know the food of the region well. He was craving the tastes of home, so we figured it was finally time to try Ambar. The space was lovely and lowkey early on a Friday night, and our server Maria was lovely. We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat small plates dinner do we could sample an array of dishes - which was a great thing for our first experience. Ambar does an incredible job of getting the tastes of the Balkan food spot on - especially with the meats - the 6 hour lamb, lamb medallions, and ćevapi all were really well prepared. We also really liked the bread. I loved the eggplant moussaka and beet salad and he was really impressed by the veal soup. Sometimes sauces were paired with dishes in ways that felt more adapted to the American palate, but overall we were impressed by the food we tried. The only part of the menu that didn't fully capture the spirit of the food we loved were the cheese and meat pies. Both had the right flavors, but the texture of the cheese pie felt really wet and gooey, and the meat pie was too dry. We appreciated that there were yummy mocktails - since we're not big drinkers. And for those who are there's a great array of regional wines and rakijas. And we did try the Baklava - nice and not as syrupy-sweet as it sometimes is (which is a good thing) and the chocolate cake - which my husband described as a really rich brownie! I'd definitely encourage folks to check it out!
Delicous food, beautiful ambiance, and excellent staff. The food selection allows you to try different types of food and each meal was flavorful and good quality. It's truly a pick your own adventure situation when you dine at Ambar.
We did the brunch experience, and the food and drinks were great. However, the service was lacking—our server wasn’t very attentive with refills, which made the experience feel less worth the price.

Lucia was a fabulous waitress! Decent food, lots of drinks, reasonable priced for an all you can eat brunch. Good for large groups- but they have a limit of 6 cards per check so plan accordingly with your group. Great option for unlimited brunch!

I dined for brunch and left stuffed. It’s really a great value for the price. The mimosas were also pretty decent.
