An extremely mediocre and overpriced Foggy Bottom breakfast and lunch spot, even by neighborhood/restaurant type standards. I recently went here to get lunch and a coffee. 1.3 pounds of food and the coffee cost me over $18, and the quality was subpar. Notably, An Uncommon Cafe uses margarine in many dishes, instead of butter or vegetable oil. I got the stuffing, turkey, stuffed fish, and fried plantains. The fried plantains were the best thing I had-sweet and delicious. The turkey and stuffing were OK but nothing I would get again. The fish was inedible-I took two bites and couldn't eat any more. The main positive was that I was able to get my buffet food and pay for it quickly.

Delicious fresh food and Kona Coffee, my favorite. Friendly staff. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

I went to eat here and never again. I was never greeted when I walked in. I ordered two plates of food for me and my son with two drinks. I was never asked if I wanted a bag yet they are quick to charge for everything but didn’t offer a bag. I had to ask and she seems surprised that I wanted a bag with all the things I had. I was asked to sit outside the cafe rather than inside. I’ll never go here again. If I can give zero stars I would!!!!!

Dangerous food handling practices, manager is unconcerned when violations are brought to his attention and makes no effort to correct them, like lukewarm entrees in the steam tables. Massive health risk leaving meat dishes out semi-warm for hours.

I use to go there all the time before Covid hit. Went there a few days ago and the food has declined. Tasted horrible. I didn't even finish it.

Yesterday I paid $7.04 for a small takeout box consisting of a few pieces of cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and pineapple. Avoid at all costs unless you like to be cheated.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I can see why they stayed shut down for such a long period after all businesses started to open back up. The food is never really good. It’s like bad DFAC (military cafeteria) food and will have your stomach hurting or have you sick. It’s a place to go to if you work in the building and have absolutely no time to grab lunch but you’ll regret it after consumption. I’ve had a few bad experiences here. The lady at the cash register is always nice and polite though.

Always fast service when I visit, with a good selection of hot buffet breakfast and lunch foods, as well as several made-to-order options.

1st time, long wait, but the food was good. 2nd time, longer wait, because there was only 1 person taking orders AND cooking. They also forgot my dressing on the side side. 3rd time, even LONGER waiteith 3 people behind the counter ! They then proceeded to give me someone else's order that had left (probably decided the wait was too long), they assured me that the burger was still hot, just off the grill. It wasn't!!! And it was slathered with mayonnaise which I said I didn't want. Definitely not going back!

it is delicious. They even have jjolmyeon and orange chicken. You can eat in a variety of ways, and if you go after 3:00 or 3:30, you get a discount.

They cook a whole turkey everyday! The variety is unmatched in the area for a lunch buffet. Food is fresh and delicious. Not all you can eat. Costs by the pound.
