One word: delicious.

The service was good. The food came out quickly and the servers were really nice. The food is just ok. Probably a good place to come to if you’re looking for a quick bite but nothing serious. The prices were good too.

This is a hidden gem! Stopped by for happy hour. The menu offered a good variety of food. The seafood nachos were amazing! Flavorful and cheesy with the right amount of heat. The margarita I ordered was perfect (not too sour, not too sweet). The only downside was the service. It took about 30 minutes to receive my food, in an empty restaurant. When it was time to pay, it took about 30 minutes. After waiting the first 15 minutes, I had to ask the waitress what was the issue. At that time she informed me that their card machine wasn’t working. I waited another 15 minutes for them to continue attempting to troubleshoot. After waiting for so long, I went to an atm to pay them in cash. I would recommend coming here if you don’t have plans afterwards.

Anafre charged me multiple times for our meal and has given me the runaround when I try to get a refund. I’ve called 5 times trying to get a refund for the multiple charges, and each time they’ve blown me off. It’s been two months and I still haven’t received a refund. At this point, I’m suspicious that they do this on purpose to unsuspecting diners who won’t check their bank statements. It’s a shame because I liked the food!

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in DC. There aren’t many restaurants we go back and back again but this is one of them. The food is consistently oh so delicious! We try to go at least once a month or every two months.

We were underwhelmed when entering the restaurant. It has a bar down most of one side with booths lining the opposite side. Perhaps if there are more customers present it would present a better atmosphere. However, the food was delicious. Our party of 3 enjoyed 2 appetizers, the Oysters Al Carbon and Shrimp and Chorizo Queso. Both were tasty although I would have preferred chips with the queso instead of the soft tortillas. We each ordered different entrees. All were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the Baja California Taco much more than the Chicken Mole Taco. Service was slow but friendly. Dinner was okay, but we probably won't go back.

Let me start by saying that we had a good time, only shamefully ruined by its ending. The food was good and affordable, the service was attentive without being annoyingly over us.The shame and embarrassment came when they brought us the receipt. It clearly stated the suggested tips, which is fine though a tad bold for my taste. However the tip had already been placed by them at an outrageous 20%! Enforced down our throats! We had to go through the awkwardness of calling them out to please have the tip removed and add a 15% instead, which is a very, very good tip btw. We were told that this was NOT possible, which of course is ILLEGAL, and were stuck into paying it because we didn't want to create more fuss. That's ILLEGAL again, you are BANDITS! shame on youEdit: Do NOT go there. We have tried to contact them to no avail. They did not have enough to ROB us with an enforced 20% tip, that they charged it TWICE. Yeah, baby! a 40% tip in total! BANDITS!

I enjoyed my dinner here! The menu has a lot of seafood options, I will definitely be going back to check out their ceviches and pizzas. The restaurant is pretty small, but the decor was beautiful, clean, and we had great service. Also, the tacos were very filling!

Somewhat a bar scene place, all you can eat and bottomless drinks are a great value if you are hungry and thirsty. Food is good but mostly lunch and dinner items. If you want more of a breakfast I'd skip here. The Guacamole was amazing. Fantastic service.

4 stars for a pretty solid Mexican food spot.My wife and I were looking to grab a bite to eat (and a marg) recently in the northern DC area and saw that Anafre was listed as a new entry on the Washingtonian Top 100. After looking through the reviews, we booked our table and headed over.We arrived to find a pretty cute-looking venue with some tables outside, a large interesting mural on the inside with tables lining the wall on the right, a bar on the left, and the cooking/pizza oven area towards the back. The venue isn't gigantic, but it also is not too cramped. We took a seat at our table and the server brought us over menus. Despite the venue not being terribly busy, our server seemed pretty busy and wasn't able to stop at our table very much for too long. He was pleasant when he stopped by, but it seems like this venue is light on staff.I started out with an old fashioned, my wife started out with a marg, and we both started our meal with the los cabos guac and oysters with crab meat. The drinks were hit or miss (mine was solid and very strong, my wife's marg could have been a little stronger but tasted good). The guac and oysters were both awesome! Each dish was a good size for the price and tasted great. We then put in our orders, with a Chile Relleno for my wife and the submarino for me. Before getting to the food (which was so good that the place is close to a 5 stars), what really held this place back for me was the wait. While we were only there for about 75 minutes (not great when you start checking your watch and know that fact), the wait time between ordering and receiving food in a somewhat non-busy restaurant can be frustrating. I know it takes time to cook fresh food, but 30-40 minutes for entrees is a little too long in my book, and other reviews I have read reflect this is a recurring problem. However, once those entrees came out, my wife and I were in for a treat! My submarino was packed with seafood, guac, and just tons of flavor. My wife's chile relleno was made "California style" in her words and packed all of the punch that she remembered when she ordered the dish in Cali. Overall, Anafre provided us with some fantastic Mexican food for a really great price. We may order take out in the future to avoid the wait time issue, but overall this is a solid spot.

Beautiful hidden gem on 14th st. It was raining when we went but the atmosphere was so cozy and cute ☺️. I ordered the drink that came in the pineapple and this drink is recommended. It’s a drink for 2 at $25 can’t beat that. Calamari was good and the food presentation was beautiful just could get a pic of the food because I was hungry and tipsy from the pineapple drink. I had an amazing time and will definitely come back.

Fantastic Mexican seafood, beef dishes, and something I'll try next visit - "Mexican pizza". I had the salmon carbon and my wife had the flautas appetizer as her entree. The salmon was perfect with bold seasoning and some really good potatoes. The flautas came with a sweet mole sauce - also spectacular. We had a couple of the speciality cocktails, which were good but not my favorite. You might like them better, though. The mezcal was a bit smoky for our taste. Great little place.
