Anju, a Korean restaurant in the District, offers a mix of traditional and modern dishes. The shrimp dumplings, chicken soup, and bibimbap were outstanding. The fried chicken is a must-try, even for non-wings lovers. The ambiance may be a bit tacky, but the friendly team makes up for it. Recent visits have highlighted the excellent food, especially the fried chicken and chicken dumplings, which are some of the best around. The warm, intimate, and relaxed atmosphere, along with attentive service, creates a lovely setting. The restaurant also offers a variety of traditional Korean fare like bulgogi bowl and Dolsot Bibim Bap, all prepared with care and skill. The cocktails and unique dishes like Ssam Board and Jujube Sticky Toffee Pudding add a special touch to the experience. Anju remains a great spot for celebrating special occasions or just enjoying a delicious meal in a welcoming environment.
The restaurant features big servings and a limited but enough selection of the latest fusion creations by Chef Angel. It's possibly the only place in DC serving Chinese-Korean Jjajangmyun, a cult favorite dating back a century. The menu also includes a Korean-style tartare, different from other places. The lively crowd of every background and the real pincher and a variety of both western and Korean drinks create a perfect atmosphere for a lively dinner after a hard day's work.
