Best West African food in DC! I had goat and jollof, and it was sooo good. Great vibes and people working there too - especially my server, Alafia. When you go there, make sure you ask for him. He makes a mean rum punch. You will not be disappointed!

I came in to order to go. It took 1 hour for my food to come out after being told 20 due to getting backed up by orders online. They offered me a free drink to make up for the wait time, however 1 hour was disappointing.

I was craving some fufu and peanut butter soup, I haven't had it in over a decade so I found this spot in DC and decided to give it a shot, first let me start off by saying the food was good and it fixed my craving for sure, my wife ordered the grilled red snapper and jollof rice which was also good.
This spot definitely has some true Ghanaians in the kitchen ?? Now let's get to the things that I didn't like, the location is terrible because it's in dc and the parking is horrible. The restaurant itself is small and it's not the best kept up place. Going in the very small bathroom made me extremely uncomfortable. The server didn't come to refill my cranberry juice that i ordered not one time nor did her ask my wife or son did they need a refill on their drinks. After serving our food, he didn't come back to our table at all! All in all I'll say this, if you're looking for some good authentic Ghanaian food, this is the place but if you want great food, great service, great location...this isn't the place for it

Took over hour to get an appetizer, and the place was empty. Ordered fried goat, small portion. Nice music and art work.

Appioo is a delightful hidden gem in the DC area. The food is delivered hot and in aesthetically pleasing "stone" bowls. The Jollof rice and Peanut soup is as authentic as you can get. My friend who lived in Ghana said the flavors were as close you can get. The service was a little unenthusiastic but the food experience made up for it. The quality and quantity of the dishes combined with the relatively low price for the DC area makes this Appioo a go-to if you are craving delicious Ghanian food or if you are feeling adventurous and want to try something new.

I’m not sure what’s going on with this restaurant. But they ruined my night and dinner plans with their excessive delays. I ordered food from them through Uber eats and somehow did not get my food as a result of their excessive delays and Uber’s gross incompetence. Nonetheless I will never order anything from this restaurant again. I’ve somehow ended my night with no dinner because I chose to rely on these guys.

The first few times I went the food was great but it has gone down significantly over the past few months. But service is always good and the restaurant is clean. I usually get the egusi soup and pounded yam. If I go back, I wouldn’t order that. Been disappointed too many times.
