Had dinner reservations and it took over an hour to be seated. Once we were seated, the food took another hour to be served to us. Hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in the DC area. I will make sure to recommend people stay away from this restaurant.

Food is good but every time I have been to any location it has taken over an hour to be seated with a reservation made days in advance. When I asked how long to be seated they claimed “we dont have a time limit to kick people out” as if that was an excuse. If you are an hour and half late every time you think a company could figure it out by now.

We hosted our companies holiday party for around 60 people here recently and the whole experience left much to be desired. There is a lot to unpack here. The party was set up through Barcelona’s corporate team in New York and their “miscommunication” is the reason we were given why our party was not properly set up on time. We were promised three long tables but when we got there nothing was set up, leaving us to help the staff rearrange the whole dining room while our guests were already arriving. Half of the tables had tablecloth and half did not (for the entire party). The staff at the restaurant thought we had a “standing” party so they had one table set up with appetizers (the best part of this meal) but the layout was so poor and the space so tight for everyone to move around and mingle if that was the case. Because they thought it was a standing event, none of the tables were set up with dishes and silverware. Once seated, everyone scrambled for utensils. We had a bunch of small plates brought out family style but it seemed like they were short on certain items (shrimp, croquettes). The one thing they were not short on was the chicken which they brought out a ton of and unfortunately a lot of it went to waste because it looked gross. We had an open bar with sangria, it was set up in the front of the restaurant and because of the table set up it was so tight and awkward getting/waiting for drinks. Once seated, no one came around not just to offer more sangria but we never even got WATER. Finally, they set out horrifically cut up dessert on boards where the appetizers initially were. After the event was over more than half of our staff went next door to Cactus Cantina for a second meal. I typically love Barcelona and recommend it often. I even planned on hosting a happy hour here in the next few months but now I am not so sure.

Terrible customer service. We made a reservation for a family celebration after an annual Cathedral event. A reservation, I thought, was needed as my husband suffers from heart failure, and we’d be slower in arriving after the service than other potential diners.

When we arrived, the restaurant entrance was crowded because other Cathedral goers also were there.

When I said to the manager that we have an 8 pm reservation, his reply was, “Not tonight you do.” We were left hanging saying the wait would be more than an hour.

Don’t waste your time making reservations. They don’t honor them, nor act like they care. There’s plenty of other options in the neighborhood.

A reservation with a time that is reconfirmed here means that you are at the top of a wait list ahead of walk ins. It does NOT mean that you are seated at the time of your reservation. We waited 20 minutes for our reserved table. There was not a complimentary drink offered to make up for this unacceptable wait.

I went to this location for the first time for dinner with friends. I really like the ambience, but I can say I wasn’t very impressed with the food. Nothing wrong, just didnt really have anything to say, wow, this is delicious. We got there and waited at least 15 min to be assisted by our waitress. We waited at least more 15 min for the drinks to come to our table. Food actually started coming before the drinks. And when they finally got to us, they were low quality. I ordered a spicy marg with some extra sugar. I got what I called lemonade juice. We were basically forced to drink our drinks since no one came to our table to check on us and we were eating as well. When she finally came to our table we ordered a main dish and other drinks then I told her to ask bartender to make it a drink, not a juice, and add liquor. Then I told her the how our experience was going so far. She sent us one of the managers who made sure we were not paying for previous drinks and food would get to us quicker. My question is, do we really need to get to this point? It looks like the reputation of Barcelona being a place just to hang out and have drinks is real.

Food, ambience and service were amazing. Loved the sangria and variety of tapas. Parking is easy to find with the Giant garage close by

This place is always just so disappointing. I love the food and atmosphere but the service is just so bad, I can't come back. I've waited here for an hour for a table (even having a reservation). Takeout orders for pickup are even soooooo slow.

The service atmosphere was perfect, but the server in charge seemed too busy. The downside is that it is difficult to make eye contact since it covers outdoor and indoor seating, but the manager came to check frequently, and the speed of the menu coming out after ordering and the taste of the food were overall very good.

I was disappointed. This isn’t my first time at this establishment. However, my party placed a reservation for 7:30pm, and we were told to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. We ended up waiting 35 minutes without a table, no real explanation, and ended up leaving…
