Great location, Nice environment, polite bartenders and perfect sangria! I also loved the empanadas they serve there. Truly recommend

First time here for happy hour and the dishes are absolutely delicious. Outdoor seating is a great vibe in this weather and I enjoyed the entire experience. I got my cocktail for 50% off and got to try other tapas/desserts on the regular menu too. Will definitely be back to try other dishes in the future.

This is the third Barcelona location we visited in DMV area. While I am a frequent diner at the other two, unfortunately I can't recommend this one. The drinks were poorly made. I had smoked Manhattan which is my favorite in other locations, but here it was a over-spicy non-smoked drink. The service was just blah, no effort to be welcoming or anything. Everything was mediocre.

If you make a reservation, you will still wait. I have been made to wait at least 20minutes every single time I have come to this location even though I had made a reservation. The staff then treat you awkwardly as you stand in the small entry way and rudely announce for you to move out of their way. The food is good, but not enough to come back again when the reservation system is so flawed and the seating staff are not able to manage the number of reservations.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Barcelona Wine Bar! We were coming to D.C. to visit our daughter in March and wanted to surprise her for her 30th birthday with a small party at the Cathedral Heights location. In the past, she had spoken very highly of this place, so we told her we would just take her out to dinner there. Not being local, I had to email back and forth many times with Tiana G. who is one of their event planners. Just through the emails I could feel her friendliness and excitement about helping us surprise our daughter that night. Thank you Tiana, for taking care of every detail and for your excellent and timely communication with me (thanks also to DeDee who stepped in to cover for Tiana at one point)! We decided on the $50 pp package which included a great selection of family style tapas, entrees, and desserts which they also customized to accommodate the birthday girl and a few guests who had some dietary restrictions. The food was AMAZING, we all raved about it! Alcohol is not included in any of their packages, but we ordered 4 pitchers of their sangria which was plenty for 8 of us. Our server Samantha was the best! Very friendly and attentive throughout the 3 hours we were there. Thank you all for helping us pull this off, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back soon!

I would rank Barcelona as …drum roll please… my (and my fiancé’s) overall top pick of best restaurant in DC! Yes, I said it and I stand by this pick for a few different reasons. I do not think you can beat the quality of their food, super reasonable prices, friendly and professional staff, SUPER fast service (food is usually out within a few minutes of ordering it) and overall vibe/ambience with another white table cloth restaurant. For how packed they consistently are, Barcelona is quite impressively managed. Their wait staff and employees are very intentional and attentive (e.g., as soon as a tapas plate is finished, we blink, and it is off our table lol). My fiancé and I come to Barcelona at least 2x per month (cathedral heights location) either eating in or ordering to go. I do wish they delivered :( !With regards to their food - - I do not think I’ve been to any restaurant in DC (apart from a few Ethiopian spots) that highlight vegetables as well as Barcelona does. My ABSOLUTE favorites are their eggplant caponata (yummy yum yum), their fried cauliflower(my fiancés favorite), Brussels sprouts (our favorite), mushroom croquettes (yasss), whipped honey sheep cheese (wildly delicious), and of course the whole roasted branzino with broccolini (soooooo delish). You must, I mean absolutely must try their almond chocolate cake. I could not believe this was made with almond flour - - and literally melts in your mouth.I highly, highly recommend you try their restaurant. We usually reserve when we remember but haven’t had a long wait time (maybe 5 minutes) when we walk in.

Amazing experience! Lady was our Bartender tonight ?? she was really friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She recommend both desserts, churros and olive oil cake ?????. We decide to try Boquerones, Octopus, Gambas (shrimp), patatas bravas and mushrooms! Everything was amazing!!!! Never tried a place like this for tapas around this area, really similar to Spain ❤️

I thought the food was decent but not great. The paella was cooked well in terms of texture but lacked depth and flavor. Most the tapas were ok but over seasoned. I think they have the cooking methods down but need to be able to layer the flavors better.Service was good and attentive.

We arrived at 7:55pm because we had a reservation at 8pm for two. We waited 45 min before to be seated. We ordered the tapas, which were good. But then we ordered that marisco paella, which took 1h15 to arrive. The place was full of people and many had the same issue. Price are good and service is kind. Food quality can be improved. Wine selection is great and cheap.

Very fast and friendly service. The Manachego and Serrano croquetas were delicious. Also tried eggplant caponatta, pork pinxos, the Spanish tortilla and the mini churros. All delicious. Our servers were very courteous. This is the second location I visit (Philadelphia in 2022) and still very happy about this place.

Food was amazing! Server was very kind and had great table side manners and attitude. However, the service was pretty slow. It didn't strike me as a lack of urgency or care, maybe sections are bigger than they should be or the bar is backed up. Sometimes it would take 10+ mins to receive our drink(s). We had several tapas: vegetarian, meat, seafood. Everything we had was solid. If you're interested in trying Sherry for the first time, I'd recommend the "La Cigarra." It was light and semi dry, refreshing. The Tempranillo Reserva was amazing as well as the Macabeo (white).

Very disappointed. For starters, we arrived on time for our 7:30 pm reservation for 2 people. We were then told it wouldn't be long and that they were cleaning tables. Finally, we got seated at 8 pm (30 minutes late). We asked our server if we could get drinks on the house since it is unacceptable to wait 30 minutes for your table if you have a reservation. However, he stated that his manager told him no.Secondly, the food didn't seem to be as tasty as usual. It came out too quickly, when usually it takes much longer and tastes fresher. Although the overall service wasn't good, our server was nice considering how busy he was.Lastly, there was an item that we did not order added to our bill. We brought it to our server’s attention and he apologized and took it off.Overall, we were very disappointed. We've been to Barcelona wine bar several times in the past and have loved it, but not tonight. It has been a great neighborhood restaurant with great food and service but recently they seem to over book on reservations. The management has always been nice and walked around to different tables to check in on how guests were doing. But not this time. And this is coming from someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, specifically right next door at Cactus Cantina as a server. At Cactus Cantina you would be seated right away if you had a reservation. Not wait 30 minutes.
