Lovely wine bar. Intimate but not overwhelming vibe. Great for first dates. Best aperol spritz in the city imo. Sean is an amazing bartender - super personable!

Barkada hosted our private event and we were awestruck by the level of detail and care put into every element of our night. The atmosphere was chic and inviting, the drinks were delicious and unique, and we absolutely loved getting to know the professionals who made it all happen. I wholeheartedly recommend this space to anyone who wants to have a memorable event. We will definitely be back—we could not love this place more!!

Come here all the time. The staff knows me by name and always has recommendations for new wines to try. They also offer special events like wine tastings and once a month they do a drag queen hosted trivia night with prizes. The menu is geared to be well paired with wines. 5/5. Love Barkada. Best spot in DC for natural wines.

Every time I’m here I feel so chic and cute, the atmosphere is sophisticated and cute.Make sure to make a reservation bc it can get pretty busy on weekdaysThere’s no other queer natural wine bar in all of dc so if you’re looking for a special date night atmosphere or a cozy place to study or work this is where I would recommend. 10/10

Rating 1 star because after a 5 hour car trip, booked a dining room reservation via Resy 50 minutes prior to the reservation time (8:30). Took a 10 minute Uber in the pouring rain to the restaurant only to walk in and be told “oh, you booked a reservation? Well we just closed the kitchen because no one has come in tonight.” Had to find alternative dining arrangements huddled outside in the rain because they apparently do not use their booking app, even though times are still available on the app. So, I do not recommend booking via Resy. If you must go, be sure to call to make sure they will be serving anything when you arrive. The absurdity is that they charge $5/person for no shows…what does a reserving diner get when the restaurant no shows?

My law firm hosted a happy hour here for about 50 people on a weeknight in September. Everything was perfect. Very delicious food, tasty signature cocktails (and mocktails), and a good selection of wines. The service - especially bar manager Abraham -- was awesome all evening. The place has a pleasant outdoor space with tables out front as well as a cool and cheery indoor bar space. Lovely, tasteful, not exorbitant wine bar with youthful vibe - highly recommended.

It's really interesting to know how four Caucasian men took a Filipino word and ran with it to incorporate a "cool", "hip", "trendy" upscale bar restaurant business without making any known tributes or efforts to recognize the culture it was stemmed from. To me, that's a disgrace to the diverse DC community, knowing they can do better without showcasing a slap in the face to an already underrepresented ethnic population. On top of that, their food is just the plain unseasoned typical charcuterie variety. Do better for the sake of knowing your privilege isn't always okay to utilize other cultures and exploit them for the convenience of profit.

I've been hoping they would change their name. Don't seem to have any connection to the culture or food that "inspired" its concept. Saw this pop back up on Instagram about the name change (or lack thereof) and was surprised nothing has been done about the name by now. Feels like the restaurant equivalent of getting a tattoo in the Chinese language because it looks cool.

The owners said they'd change the name Barkada (a word taken from Filipino culture, even though none of them are Filipino nor do they serve any Filipino food) in 2020 but have still yet to do so. I think it's disgraceful to announce something like that and even admit "we missed the mark" in interviews, only to not follow through on their word and be OK with everyone seemingly forgetting their promise. Well, I am not forgetting. If you're eating here while it's still named Barkada, please know it's offensive to Filipinos.

A great place for a quiet happy hour! The service is good, the seating is comfy, and there's lots of room outside too!

We came on a Saturday to celebrate Brenna's birthday. The venue accommodated kind of last minute our large party, which we appreciated. As for the venue itself, it is not a large place. A couple tables and a bar. But the venue is cute and cozy. A great date spot for two. Barkada offers a wide selection of good wines. There is no question it is a good place to enjoy a bottle or two. Stick to the wine though, as the food selection was sparse and just okay. Our biggest gripe is that we found the service somewhat lacking. The bartenders and waitresses were quite frankly not that friendly. It kind of felt like they were ready for the party to end, which is an interesting way to run a business that profits off wine-guzzling guests who overstay their welcome.

We had a great time here despite sudden downpour of rain. We were seated outside and remained perfectly dry. Food was fantastic, we enjoyed wine and cocktails, and our server Courtney was friendly and attentive. This was a great place to pop in for tasty small plates and drinks!
