If you like beer and German style pub fare, then this is the place for you. A wide selection (~20) of German and local microbrews on tab, and sprinkle that with super tasty and inexpensive hotdogs. What more can you ask for? Both indoor and outdoor seating.
A relatively new place in a old space. Perfectly located watering hole for cyclists along the Crescent Trail. In addition to choices for beers and ciders, there is a good selection of wurst(sausages). If there are four of you, I recommend the platter with all sausages and fixings. For starch, the fries are excellent! If you are alone, try the fries with sausage and curry ketchup.
The Berliner is a hip bar/restaurant in Georgetown across from the Waterfront. I particularly enjoyed the craft beer and cider options, as well as the sausage sandwiches. A soft pretzel with a stingy cheese dip was underwhelming. It's a pretty good place overall, but they impose a mandatory 20% service charge on every check. While service charges are inherently deceptive (just include it in the price of the food/drink!) a 20% charge is extremely high, and this one was especially galling because the service at the Berliner is limited - there's no host/hostess and you have to place food/drink orders and pay at the Bar - the only service is bringing the food/drinks when ordered. If you're going to impose a high service charge, at least provide service to warrant it.
Great beer hall with a solid German beer list and delicious German food offerings. We had the currywurst with the Berliner Brat, the deviled eggs, and the pretzel- all were delicious and complimented the many beer options.Note- on a hot day when all the doors are open, the place can get hot. They have plenty of fans to keep it cool, just choose your spot wisely.
Wonderful beer selection, setting, and prices. DC is lucky to have The Berliner, along with the staff that made our experience special. We have been a few times now and have had the pleasure of interacting with Caitlyn, the best host. Come for the beers and Caitlyn, stay for the delish french fries!
Don’t get the small glass of beer, holds less than the 1/2 liter mug and they try to pawn it off as the same (and charge the same $). S L O W service, too. Yikes.
Great little beer spot with plenty of seating and really nice service. You can try anything on tap And the guy serving us was just super hospital. They have a ton of small seats inside along with an upper area for busier nights. There’s also an outdoor area. I love the staircase benches lined with pillows if you were just looking to chill on a weekday afternoon. Tap selection is great. The bartender is really helpful in giving recommendations. Would love to come back to chill
Perfect summer vibes! Drinking beer, eating sausages, and catching the pulse of the city while seated outside, there’s not much better atmosphere on a midsummer day. There was a DJ busting some tunes and a massive selection of drafts on tap. Paired with quintessential German foods The Berliner is a must stop in the Georgetown area. Get a pretzel, have a brat, and wash it all down with a liter of beer or two ;)
This is a great spot, super close to, but still tucked away from the hubbub of Georgetown. A spacious bar with good beer on tap, a mix of German beers and local beers, and a nice big patio for summer days - which you can reserve in advance. They also do an excellent variety of sausages/brats. The only thing that keeps me from giving five stars is there is always a decent wait to order. There's two bars, but I've only ever seen one open, and line style ordering, so as this is a pretty popular place, they do get very busy, and you can expect to wait.
Great selection of food, pretty authentic German options with a twist. The wurst sausage was incredible with the ground mustard and chili on top - everything was very unique and high quality.Make a reservation since it’s probably packed on weekends. Location is also relaxing as they open the windows during the summer and dogs can sit outside.

Best place for afternoon drinks.Great vibe, nice crowd, staff is so casual but attentive.Just please please please up your liquor game a little, so we can have some cocktails as well as good beer.
Great selection of German and domestic beer as well as several choices of sausages. The food choices are good even for vegetarians. The only downside is the noise from the traffic on the Whitehurst Freeway which is right above the place.
This is not a "sit down" type restaurant. You go up to the bar, order 1 of 30 or so beers available, and then order "food". There is a limited selection of brats and pretzels - but that is all you need! Once you get your beer you find a seat at one of the tables or on the "bleachers". Join a group, drink, eat, relax, make a new friend and listen to a great selection of eclectic jams. This is a great atmosphere and of course the beer is great. I had the Dunkel, a rather large Dunkel - the glass was huge. Anyway, the dunkel was some of the best I have ever drank, even when compared with my local brew in Stedtfelt. This has the college town feel, and is just a great place to hang out a while. I would definitely recommend for any age group!
Went here for brunch on a chilly Saturday morning around noon. It was not crowded at all which was perfect for my group of friends. I got the sausage hash with fried eggs and the deviled eggs. Both were delicious! And who could say no to beermosas?! You do have to go up to order food and drinks but w/o a crowd, it’s simple! Can’t wait to go again when they have the outside open fully!
Absolutely phenomenal atmosphere. As a German and I can tell you these guys have done a great job in there selection on German beers the list goes on and on!! Highly recommend
