Very laid back vibe. If you just want to relax, chat with friends and grab a drink, this place is ideal. If you're looking for a true high energy DC club experience, this is not the place you want to be lining up for.
This bar has an interesting setup. There was maybe only three tables inside due to covid and I saw at least five staff members. QR codes are given to send you to a website where you can read the menu. You're also required to order from this website. I understand this system can work well for large bars and restaurants but considering the amount of staff for few tables it may be better to have the staff waitering. I have a ritual when I'm out in the U St corridor. 1301 is ALWAYS on my list and most times I start and finish here. Had a great experience with the owner Sunday where I got to try the house tequila. I'll always come back!!
