Wow this place is amazingly good! We had six people in our party and everyone was extremely happy with their meal. Our waiter was also amazing and followed up frequently. The beer tap list is top notch! They had beers I just can't find elsewhere. Wine list was also well thought out. The decor/ambiance is very good as well. Caesar salad and the risotto was amazing and people liked the catfish, steak frits, meatball pomodoro, deviled eggs. I would have liked a bit more vegan options or healthier options but I'll come back and try whatever they have soon. We have to come back!
We'd been to Birch and Barley years ago (pre-Covid) and it had been a lively, fun restaurant with good food, a great beer list, and nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, it's now quite dark, there were only 2 other tables filled, and while the food was good and the beer list still long, it was just pretty sad. Too bad.
Nice restaurant located right in Logan Circle, came here for a large group dinner. The service was great. Drinks were good but the food was just okay. Nothing to complain about but nothing to brag about either. Overall okay but I don't think I would be back for dinner.

Was here for a wedding event. The food was very good and the service exceptional. Mini crab cakes were divine, grilled cheese fun, also enjoyed the steak crostini. Needed silverware, which was hard to come by. However, the drinks kept flowing.

Great evening here on a friend's recommendation. The craft cocktails were yummy. My bucatini/shrimp entree was delicious. My partner's bolognese equally great. Capped the meal off with hazelnut gelato...just perfect! The vibe was very low key...but fun! I think we'll go back next time we're in DC.
Great place, quiet and comfy. Atmosphere is great, food is tasty, as well as cocktails. Jack was really nice and helpful, making the place even

A fabulous dinner! I never leave reviews but everything was just so good. We had cheese board, and then lamb ragu pasta, chicken, and risotto. Everything was just really amazing, and the risotto was the best we have ever had. Had strawberry rhubarb dessert which was also awesome. Great place!

The service was impecable. Both servers worked in tandem, so there was never a time when attention wasn't given, yet they weren't on top of us the whole time. The food was outstanding! It was my second time here and I look forward to returning and bring more friends next time.
Had not been in a while, so certainly noticed the completely revamped interior, quite handsome. The waitstaff is thoroughly professional. Dishes are well prepared and very reminiscent of menus of the past. The one thing that hasn't changed is the phenomenal lineup of beers, my group's objective in going there in the first place. The option of small pours is the best way to go if you intend to make a dent in sampling this list.
Never again! Let me start with the good. My wife had the cod and she loved it. That's the good. I had the chicken. It was not dry to the bone but it was far from juicy. Luckily the was au jus so I used that to make the chicken better. It came with mashed potatoes that was so salty after two bites that was enough. Uneditable. It also came with brocorabi on top of the mashed potatoes and they added more salt(too much) on top of that. I'm a life long member of the “clean plate” club, but there was no way I could eat that. My wife likes salt and she thought it was way too salty also. They have a beer bar upstairs and they should have stopped with that and not tried to open a restruant. We stop in to DC every spring on the way back home and this was the worst meal I've ever had including any of the museums. NEVER AGAIN!!

The food was good but overall was disappointed with the experience. Lackluster service and the product needs an upgrade and deep cleaning. This place should be packed on a weekend.
I have never had beef cheeks. I will be back to B&B for more. The onions and carrots were perfectly cooked and good accompaniment to the deliciously tender beef. The sauce was rich and well seasoned. One of the best wintery meals I've had in years. The waitress' cab sauv wine pairing was also spot-on. My appetizer of beets and grapefruit was also excellent, though I would prefer a bit more olive oil. The wait staff was very attentive without being imposing. Also appreciated that the chef came out to ask how we enjoyed our meal. One other note: the menu had 5-6 appetizer and entree options--it was enough without overwhelming with options. I suspect the benefit is keeping the kitchen team focused and able to deliver excellence. B&B deserves more attention.
We have been to Churchkey multiple times and love it, and we were so excited to finally eat at Birch & Barley. It's great to have the same beer and drink menu as Churchkey while having a quieter more intimate space to enjoy date night. The servers and bartenders were absolutely fantastic! We had the lamb ragu and the venison and both were awesome, highly recommend!
