While it has been years since I visited BlackSalt, I had previously lived close to the restaurant when it first opened. The food and service has only improved in my opinion. I suspect that Restaurant Week can cause many restaurants to be overwhelmed with diners, and this stress can lead to hiccups in service and food preparation. This was my first visit to this restaurant. I went because they participated in DC's Restaurant Week for lunch. I chose it among many other restaurants because the lunch menu choices looked great. In fact, all three courses were delicious. I went as a solo female diner. I had asked my waiter when he took my order to leave the menu so I could decide on a drink later. My waiter never returned to take my drink order. I decided to forego having a glass of wine and just have coffee...
