Board room is a fun place to go for a casual night. So many game options and lots of tables. It’s a little confusing on how to pay but there is a QR code that you scan to Venmo a couple dollars for the game. Donations! Lots of fun and alcohol and nonalcoholic drinks!

The concept of drinking a beer and playing a board game with friends from work seems pretty trippy. I can honestly say this was a much needed distraction and enjoyable

Our go-to place to chill and hangout with friends. They have slightly older collection of games, but you can definitely find a good mix of the classics, quick/witty card games, as well as strategy games.
The best part? The games are FREE before 7PM AND you can bring your own food or get it delivered!! The games are not expensive post 7PM too ($3 per game)
It does get crowded pretty quickly. No reservations, only walk-ins.

The bar tender could stand to be a little friendlier. I go here almost every week and he's just very unapproachable.
Otherwise, great atmosphere. Great people. Great drinks.

Went here on a very random side quest. The vibe was casual and chill. The perfect atmosphere and happy was affordable. Would definitely recommend Board room for a fun, casual night out

Great vibe for a group event or even first date if you're into that vibe. Board games are rentals which caught me by surprise a bit but I guess it makes sense.

Other than the initial bartender who served us right when the bar opened at 4pm, it was great. He seemed annoyed when we asked the simple question about having beer on tap. Maybe something was going on but we felt like his cold attitude was directed towards us.

The space itself is nice but the staff was pretty rude. Made me feel like my presence was an inconvenience.

The bouncer accused me of possessing a fake drivers license out of Louisiana.. that was interesting. I told him it was slightly expired, and then proceeded to offer him a federal unexpired TWIC card(which is a felony if you falsify), in which he proceeded to call a fake as well. He’s let me in the bar multiple times and now I have an issue.. So, do we persecute the guy for not doing his job or just making slanderous allegations? Seriously. You can’t say he’s being nice. He disregarded it the first time or 2 but now I have an issue.
Another downside is you have to play insane money just to play a board game… if they don’t make enough on drinks that’s nuts.

I read another recent review that hit the nail on the head and summed up my experience perfectly. The smug, “I don’t care” attitude from both the bartender and the doorman was more than enough to make me never want to come back. In a time when so many establishments are fighting to stay relevant, you’d think good customer service would be a priority, but apparently not here. The atmosphere itself could’ve been enjoyable, but the staff’s arrogance completely killed the vibe. There are too many great spots in DC to waste time or money somewhere that treats people like they’re doing us a favor by being open.
