The food, service, and ambiance is always extraordinary here! The staff is friendly and professional, and the food always delicious! The bar is also a great place to hand out after work. Great location and its beautiful inside.

Maybe it was just a bad day but we were overcharged on wine and if one of us hadn't really looked at the bill it would have been paid as it was. Overcharging helps the server get a bigger tip and the restaurant benefits also but don't advertise a glass of wine is half price with the fixed price menu and then not charge it properly - when we raised it, the manager came out and said most people done have wine at lunch. So I guess we were being “shamed” for ordering wine in a way and the server not to blame - you'd think we would have been comped something for this blunder but instead we were talked down to! We were shocked. It's a shame as the atmosphere is perfect in there.

The steak was the worst that I've had from a top steak house that I've visited across the US. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. However, there are two Bobby Van's restaurant in the area. Therefore, I wouldn't punished the other restaurant. My visits in the past were definitely better.

Our experience at Bob Van's Grill (BVG) is consistently good. The food, service and ambience never disappoints. Of all the steak houses in DC, we consider BVG our 'go-to' for steak desires and overall special occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc. ) dinner outings!

The hostess anticipated that I'd want a quiet spot and made a point of seating me in a quieter section. My waiter was helpful with menu selections and offered to make a half portion of a salad. He was appropriately attentive. Both the salad and steak were up to the usual high quality standards I've enjoyed over the years here.
Very inconsistent touch points with the server to get drinks, apps, and main entre orders taken. Main frustration is filet was extremely dry and refrigerator cold. Almost as if it was semi cooked ahead to be finished off on grill then served and they missed the reheat process. Not the Bobby Van's I know from NYC.

We went here twice during our stay in Washington DC. The second time we ate in the bar because it was early afternoon. Michael was an excellent waiter. Asked our names and was very attentive. Everyone at both visits was very friendly. Food was delicious. Prepared perfectly. They split everything before bringing it out. We can’t say enough about this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
