We used to love this place before the pandemic—it was one of our go-to spots. Unfortunately, the quality really deteriorated during the pandemic, and we decided to give it a second try recently. Sadly, the conclusion remains the same: overpriced and underwhelming food.

We ordered an $18 salad that was the size of a small appetizer, with no protein, minimal dressing, and absolutely no flavor. It was disappointing, to say the least. We also tried the grilled pork chop, which was another letdown. It wasn’t properly charred, and the sauce on it was overly sweet and unappetizing. The vegetables served with the pork chop were over-seasoned, making the dish even more unpleasant.

On a positive note, the service was good, and the decor is still lovely. However, none of that can compensate for the poor quality of the food and the steep prices. Unfortunately, this is not a place we’ll be returning to anytime soon.

The bread was the best, soft, hot, match with the pesto butter! The trout plate was good seasoning, vegetables were very fresh! The decoration was good as well.

Amazing Fish Stew, Fish and Chips, Wood Grilled Pork Chops and Pesto Rigatoni. The seasonal Apple Crisp for desert was amazing! Great vibe. Ben at the Bar mixed delicious cocktails! Must eat here when in DC.

Buck's is a neighborhood gem. Warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. The roasted 1/2 chicken is amazingly juicy and the sauce is perfection. Highly recommend.

What a fun surprise! We stopped in for an impromptu dessert and drink after a long day and were sat at the corner of the bar. The chocolate cake was delightful and rich, it paired great with the Table 27 cocktail. I ordered an amaro on the rocks afterwards and the bartender offered to shake it to chill it which was a great touch! I’m looking forward to going back in the future for the real deal soon.

Been coming here since they opened 20 years ago, and they never disappoint. Incredible consistency of quality and service. The steak is among the best in DC - believe the hype! But everything else is great too. Their wine list is also terrific with some serious gems at reasonable prices. One of my all time favs!

Had a fantastic, quiet dinner with my wife and cousin. She recommended this place and she was spot on. The restaurant is quiet, dark, and relaxing. Service was stellar, our drink orders were taken and returned quickly. Mixed drinks were tasty and poured perfectly. The food was incredible. From the 1/2 chicken to the Smokey Burger all were cooked, seasoned, and plated perfectly. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare as was the steak. The chicken was flavorful and juicy.

Great food and an atmosphere that allowed for conversation. A great time. Will be back again.

I’m so happy to be back in the neighborhood. And so lucky that Buck’s is around the corner. I’ve eaten there now for five nights in a row while my kitchen is out of service. My brother and I are slowly working our way through the cocktail menu. Is it getting expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Can I live off Buck’s fried oysters, watercress Caesar salad, and cocktails? Maybe! The atmosphere is warm and lovely, service is friendly but doesn’t smother, and if you go half an hour before they close, there’s usually a table even if you haven’t reserved. Highly recommend.

An absolute gem that I don’t hear much buzz about. 5 stars all around… 4.2 stars for this place is criminal!Went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. Friendly, unpretentious bartenders got us waters and menus immediately. Delicious steak, fries and wedge salad. Down-to-earth decor and vibe, with canoes suspended from the ceiling. My wife turned to me and asked, “why aren’t there more restaurants like this?” If only!

Buck's is the kind of place every neighborhood deserves. Good to great food, great drinks, and the warmest atmosphere. Must have dishes are the carrot dip and the broccoli slaw. If there is any room for improvement, it's to tell the servers to engage more. The service is better than average, but it feels like they have been told to be as unintrusive as possible, and it seems to have leaned a little too far lately to what I'd best describe as shyness? It's a little weird. But make no mistake, Buck's gives you all the feelings that make you glad to go out to eat.
