European styled restaurant. Elegant and great service. Their lamb burger is delicious

A nice, quiet environment; my friend and I were seated immediately at six on a Sunday evening. We ordered two different kinds of burgers (mine was lamb) and enjoyed them immensely! I didn't take pictures, but I really should've. Both plates were nicely crafted

No complaints here. I came here for happy hour with some co-workers and it was nice to be able to sit and actually talk with each other. Their house red wine was tasty and they give you a very large pour. I also tried the pulled pork sliders and that was really flavorful. Service was good as well.

Nice place, good service. The french toasts might be a little more creamy, less dry.

What a disappointment to be here as a vegetarian when you have only one item in the main course and that is also very bland and vegetables were added just for colors, and I paid $17 + tip + tax for that pasta dish! Only another vegetarian option was a small salad. No veggie soup, no small dishes for cold windy winter days?? I cannot believe this place is in the heart of Washington and they do not think of having enough vegetarian items in their menu. The Apple crumb pie was extra sweet too. My reviews are based on the choice of vegetarian food in their menu and price compared to the quality, taste, and thoughtfulness. The service was ok. They should up their game and look around to understand Washington DC health and food choices trends!!

We found Café Soliel after checking in our hotel late one evening after a long drive to DC. What a welcome find. The atmosphere - wood, white tablecloths, art, great music - instantly relaxed us. I loved, loved the lamb shanks. Followed by creme brûlée, it was the perfect dinner. The unhurried but attentive staff made us feel like we were in Europe where one has the table for the night, not for an hour. We lingered and enjoyed. In fact, we enjoyed the restaurant so well, we came back one more night during our stay.

The food was wonderful. The best salmon I have had in a long time at a restaurant

We stayed at the Club Quarters hotel and went to Cafe Soleil for Happy Hour. We were never greeted despite sitting in the bar's lounge area for about 30 minutes. I went up to the bar to order drinks because no one was coming to the table....no one ever came by our table while we finished our drinks to take our food order. However, when others arrived to the bars lounge area they were immediately greeted.

Service is hit-and-miss, but they literally have a waiter that doesn't speak English and will screw up your order. God forbid if you have dietary requirements oh, you could end up in the hospital.

Good choice for lunch whether you want an entree or a sandwich. The chicken sandwich with bacon and melted cheese with sweet potato fries was really good and reasonably priced at $12. Conveniently located next to the Farragut West metro and a short walk to the Renwick and White House.

Very quiet and cozy. I enjoyed having dinner with friend there. I love their steak frites.

We looked for a quiet, warm restaurant after a very, very early visit to the White House and found Cafe Soleil a few blocks away. It was almost completely empty but the atmosphere is very welcoming and the menu looked interesting. We had not accessed the reviews on Trip Advisor and we were glad we didn't! We are very surprised at the negative reviews of Cafe Soleil! The restaurant is part of the CQ Hotel and is decorated in a French bistro style. It's very warm and comfortable with lots of wood, white tablecloths and Impressionist art on the walls. After settling in with excellent hot coffee, we ordered the "Oval Office" which included eggs, French Toast, bacon and fruit and a Western omelette. Pretty basic stuff but we were treated to the French Toast which was covered with cinnamon and delicious. The eggs, bacon and fruit were all substantial and the omelette was fluffy and filled with veggies and ham. A drawback is that they add the tip, which we hate, but even with that addition and the high DC tax the breakfast was under $40, not bad by DC standards. If you are looking for a civilized breakfast stop, away from the buffets and microwave heated sandwiches, give Cafe Soleil a try.

Unfortunately one of the people dining with us had an awful experience. They asked for their fish not to have sauce on it - first came out exactly as another at our table with sauce. Sent it back and came out with no seasoning and in the same sauce. Maybe wouldn't have been so bad had the salad he ordered with dressing on the side not come out with dressing on it and had to get that corrected. They did comp the meal so at least they tried to make up for mistakes. The rest of us had good food.

Staying at the adjoining Club Quarters Hotel and late back after a day sightseeing, decided to eat at Cafe Soleil. Wish I'd read other reviews first! Service was really poor, as was the food. Only 2 other diners in restaurant should have told me something! Completely disinterested staff, had no clue about what might be gluten free and they didn't / couldn't be bothered to ask the kitchen. 20 mins later took our order. Another 20 mins before wine arrived. I had ordered a salad with beets and goats cheese. What arrived was a bowl of 'frizzy' (cheap) lettuce, a hand-squished ball of soft goats cheese, a couple of cherry tomatoes and a few olives. No beets?! Should say my partner ordered the burger. Pretty average and with cold fries. Told the staff we weren't impressed. She just smiled. Definitely one to avoid. I'm sure there are many better places, we were just too tired to find them tonight.
