das Motto des Restaurants ist "lieber viel als richtig gut".... Das passt sicher für viele Leute, unbedingt teilen und für Kinder nicht separat bestellen!!

I was super underwhelmed... and that usually does not happen. We had 5:45 reservations and were seated about 5 minutes after we arrived. We ordered: Cesar salad, lasagna, garlic cheese bread. Cesar salad came out SO fast (it was good) Lasagna came out next (it was ok) Our bread never came, finally we asked for the check asked to cancel the bread. Our server said “ok” begrudgingly... (but our whole meal was over!) It was super odd, he never came back, we had to ask for the check from a way different server, then his dashed out check by and still another one checked us is out. Food was ok, service was puzzling, will not go back.

Although you get a generous amount of food, the overall experience was just okay. Our server was handling a large party in addition to our table of two, so we did not receive much attention. The noise level was acceptable. It's worth trying once, but I would not return.

Excellent staff, food and ambiance. 2 appetizers and 3 entrees filled 5 of us and we took some food home.

Jalen was a fantastic server - friendly and patient even though we were a party of 10 under a time limit. Both my 92 year old father celebrating his birthday and my niece and her new husband celebrating their nuptials 2 days earlier were treated to special desserts. Such a nice surprise!

We had the pleasure of dining in and Carlos was our waiter. Very sincere and very knowledgeable of the menu as well as the wine list. The food was absolutely perfect and Carlos helped us pick our desert which was the bread pudding and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal and Carmines experience.

We made this reservation without much initial review and we forgot it was Mother's Day but had a wonderful experience. We waited about 15-20minutes after our reservation time but sat at the bar and got drinks and an appetizer. Happy hour specials are great with several drinks and appetizers less than $10. It's a beautiful place, food selection met everyone's likes. Service was subpar. While the waiter was VERY nice, we had to ask him twice for bread then finally grab someone else to bring bread after our meal was on the table. Our server didn't check in us often enough to order more drinks (or bring us bread). The food was great! Tgis is familybstyle so a single entree is multiple servings. Our group of 5 ordered 3 entrees, plus meatballs and we had plenty of leftovers. Although we didn't order any dessert they looked amazing.

It had been awhile since visiting the Carmines in NYC. It was a beautiful way to enjoy our Mother's Day meal. Everything was 10/10

Overall the food was good, but not seasoned. The salmon with clams and mussels dish was very good, ample and cooked just right. It was enough to feed five people. There's a complimentary bread basket, but the bread is not served hot. The Ceasar's salad was decent. One guest asked about additional dressing and was told that was an additional charge. Even though we asked for the anchovies on the side, the salad had a slight fishy taste. As sides, we ordered the roasted potatoes and a pasta dish with vegetables. The pasta wasn't seasoned and had too much basil. Spinach would have been preferred. Two persons ordered alcohol. The margarita was ok and Malbec good. The rest of the table ordered hot tea as it was a little chilly in the restaurant. Tea was served as a cup, not a pot and about $4.00 each. There was a choice of tea, but no green tea. The highlight was really the service. We had some particular people in our group and they were very accommodating. One table on the other side of the room was boisterous, and the manager asked them to tone it down. Although there were large bus groups of school aged tourists, they were in the back and well behaved. We were rushing to go to a play and the waiter was able to get our order in time. We wanted to try desert and came back after the play, but the kitchen was closed, There aren't a lot of menus, but some dinner options were posted on the wall. The restaurant is family style, which may be great for families and large group.

We enjoyed dinner at Carmine's last night. The food was delicious, the service was good, the ambience lively, the noise level tolerable. The only problem was that the portions were ridiculously large. We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer. The wings were meaty and tasty. But the only way to get the wings was to order Carmine's Spicy Scarpariello Wings, a platter of 24 chicken wings! We ate about eight wings between the two of us (more would have spoiled our appetites for the main course), and thus had 16 wings to take home! That's nutty. My wife ordered Eggplant Parmesan. She loved it, but the portion was enough to feed a family of four. To eat some eggplant parmesan, she had to order enough to bring home three times more food than she could eat at the restaurant. My main course was penne pasta with sausages, a mountain of pasta with six sausages. It was very good. I ate about a fourth of the pasta and two of the sausages -- and brought home enough for at least two more dinners. We will be eating “at Carmine's” for the rest of the week. This restaurant doesn't understand the difference between going out to dinner, and going grocery-shopping! If you need to pick up dinner for a crowd, this is a great spot. If you want to have an intimate dinner with your favorite squeeze, and leave with a full stomach and empty hands, maybe not so much.

Great food, great service. Got us in early. Very happy with choice of carbonara which was the special!

I made this reservation specifically for the family style - we don't all eat full portions and like to share. You should know this restaurant does take large groups as in 50+ at a time. While I understand large tour groups having available dining options, it can add to your dining time. One of our appetizers came out quick (they set the bar! I was impressed) but the second one came out 30 minutes after that with an attempted delivery of another round of our first appetizer. Our main course (1.5 hours in) we had to ask for it to be brought to us. I don't blame the waiter, he was just as surprised. The main course was cold and and been sitting. Again I say this to let you know keep on them about timing and everything should be fine

My family of 5 ate here during our visit to DC on spring break. Our server was good and friendly, but the food was just awful. Honestly, it was bad. I would not recommend.

The food and service were good. I was expecting the portions to be a little bigger, as we were sharing dishes.

The service was disappointing and the food didn't make up for it. The garlic noodles were drenched in oil and came with four overcooked, tough shrimp. The spaghetti was overwhelmed with marinara sauce. The hostesses seemed more interested in chatting with each other and came across as dismissive and unfriendly. Our waiter was busy and largely inattentive. We were also celebrating a birthday, which was noted on the reservation and mentioned again upon arrival, but it went completely unacknowledged.
