My birthday weekend would not be complete with dining at Caruso's Grocery in Capitol Hill for some Italian. My old reliable is the Spicy Neapolitan Ragu. How can a classic dish that is so simple be soooo good and why doesn't my spaghetti and meat sauce at home taste like this??lolThe Spicy Neapolitan Ragù is traditional, flavorful, amazing meat sauce that is cooked with love and to die for. Which is probably why it is featured on the cover page of their website. The Bucatini Pasta comes out smoking hot topped with a dollop of creamy whipped ricotta.Chef's kiss or "Molto Delizioso" (Italian for very delicious per google lol)

1st Timers! Finally got in - not easy! Celebrating my birthday .. great way to top a great day. Server Jordan was excellent and the food (she -trout, he- Veal Francaise) was even better! So very good. Carusos: worth the kudos!!

Finally got the chance to try out Caruso’s Grocery! Pedro was our server and he was very friendly and definitely made our first experience memorable! We started off with the calamari which was one of the better ones in the DC area. Got the linguine in clam sauce and veal from the night’s specials. We enjoyed both meals and ranked them 8/10. We liked how cozy it was compared to Filomena’s which is loud and crowded. Brooklyn cheesecake and nutella cannolis were also delicious. We’ll definitely come back.

This restaurant is officially my favorite italian restaurant. We got sat prior to our reservation and attended almost instantly by our server Jordan. The food came out very quick. The quality of each item was top tier! I had the best calamari as it was perfectly crispy. We also the burrata, it was our first time trying it and we loved it. The portions were great for the price. The atmosphere was laidback and relaxed. The tiramisu was mouth watering!!Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp right next to stairs
First time i deviated from the lemon caper trout to have the veal francaise It was served in speed time and was a breaded soggy mess It would have benefited from some more time in the pan to get a crisp finish Disappointed in my meal Server was so proud of his service i chose not to say anything. usually food is delicious I definitely will return and try again

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The dining room is small so be sure to make a reservation. Our server was attentive and gave great food recommendations. We tried the calamari as an appetizer, it was the best I’ve ever tried. The spicy Neapolitan ragu was amazing. My fiancé tried the shrimp scampi and he loved it! We enjoyed an espresso martini for dessert and ordered two tiramisu’s to-go. I’d highly recommended dining here!
The food was amazing! Everything we had was fabulous and delicious. From the appetizers we had mozzarella bread to the garlic bread so tasty. Dinner we had the chicken Parmesan, clams linguine, spicy Neapolitan ragu and the house special pasta everything was fresh and delicious. The drinks were good too and the tiramisu and affogato were off the charts. Great dinner while visiting DC.
We had the best time celebrating my husband's 30 birthday! Our waiter was awesome & the food was some of the best we've had in the 5+ years we've lived in DC! We already booked another reservation to come back when my in-laws visit next month.

This place is seriously incredible. I love that it's not huge and the tables aren't on top of each other. The vibe is so cute with the pictures on the walls and decor -- I like that it's not trying to present as overly fancy. The food was to DIE for. Pasta was perfectly cooked, came out quick, and offered incredible portions. The wine portions were great, too! I'm already planning my next visit. So glad I finally checked this place out.
