Went in around noon looking for brunch. There was a kiosk line, so we opted to order through there instead of waiting in a long line at the counter. We got to the point of pulling out a payment method when we were rudely asked “what are you doing??” by the man at one of the counters. We replied with ordering food (because what do you mean ‘what are you doing’ ?) where he then said “you guys missed THE ENTIRE TIME for breakfast”, pointed at the breakfast menu, laughed, and rolled his eyes. We canceled our order on the spot and walked out. Absolutely terrible experience first time in. Learn some proper customer service — especially in a major tourist area.

I have nothing but good things to say about this little gem. City Place is a delight to have on the block. The food is fresh and delicious and the preparation is quick. The owners really care and are always working the front, greeting and welcoming everyone who walks in. I recently had a really tasty merguez sandwich special, an absolute rarity that took me back to North Africa.

I ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee in this terrific deli. I was impressed with the people before and after me that the person behind the counter called by name. This place is obviously popular with locals and folks working nearby. The coffee was LAvazza and I had a choice of light and dark roast. The burrito was delicious, full of soft eggs, perfectly cooked potatoes and crispy bacon. I am here for several days; I will be back!

I ordered an Iced mocha and the Milano sandwich both tasted really good. I do have to say almost 13$ for a sandwich is definitely a little pricey. The staff was nice and I got my order really swiftly.

We came here for breakfast one morning craving bagels as soon as it opened at 7:00 am. We were only in town for a work conference for a week and ended up getting our daily bagel 4/6 days! The restaurant wasn’t too busy that early in the morning. It’s a hidden gem right in the heart of downtown and a great spot to enjoy an amazing meal to start your day. The menu offers vegetarian options as well as substitutions. The first day I ordered just a bagel with egg and cheese, along with a double shot espresso ( they serve Lavazza here, so it was great!). The serving was extremely generous for a bagel and ended up being pretty filling! My colleagues ordered the daily special on a bagel: 3 eggs, avocado and bacon. It was huge, extremely flavorful, and they absolutely finished the whole thing! Some of them even ordered a second one! The second day I ordered the daily special as well but had them substitute the bacon for mushrooms, it was exceptionally delicious! Their service was fast and the staff extremely friendly and attentive. Overall an absolutely fantastic experience and we will definitely be coming back if in the DC area!
