I have NEVER encountered customer service to this degree before! The owner, Jawad, was at the register and greeted every single person who came in with genuine joy. He seemed to know every customer's name, and cheerfully greeted and hugged customers as they entered. This level of welcoming and warmth created an amazing atmosphere. The food was fresh, delicious, came in huge portions, was fairly priced, and prepped super quickly. The cafe itself is beautiful, clean, and bright. This place is a MUST visit! Will be a regular lunch spot.

Went in around noon looking for brunch. There was a kiosk line, so we opted to order through there instead of waiting in a long line at the counter. We got to the point of pulling out a payment method when we were rudely asked “what are you doing??” by the man at one of the counters. We replied with ordering food (because what do you mean ‘what are you doing’ ?) where he then said “you guys missed THE ENTIRE TIME for breakfast”, pointed at the breakfast menu, laughed, and rolled his eyes. We canceled our order on the spot and walked out. Absolutely terrible experience first time in. Learn some proper customer service — especially in a major tourist area.

I was in Washington for meetings and took a break to walk around and get lunch. I found City Place and was truly happy that I did. Excellent turkey sandwich with avocado (the San Francisco), super clean cafe, friendly staff. I planned to get my sandwich to go and ended up eating there. I also planned to save half for later but ate the whole thing! Highly recommend d.

I have nothing but good things to say about this little gem. City Place is a delight to have on the block. The food is fresh and delicious and the preparation is quick. The owners really care and are always working the front, greeting and welcoming everyone who walks in. I recently had a really tasty merguez sandwich special, an absolute rarity that took me back to North Africa.

I ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee in this terrific deli. I was impressed with the people before and after me that the person behind the counter called by name. This place is obviously popular with locals and folks working nearby. The coffee was LAvazza and I had a choice of light and dark roast. The burrito was delicious, full of soft eggs, perfectly cooked potatoes and crispy bacon. I am here for several days; I will be back!
