Very good coffee. Excellent atmosphere. Friendly staff.
A local favorite for our staff. Great spot for quick coffee break or client meetings.
Never get my order right
Staff are nice, but every time I order decaf, they give me regular.

Good Morning,
I am regretfully writing about a disappointing experience at one of your locations. It was a true example of poor customer focus and cohesion between a corporate vision and staff execution.
My wife suggested that we go to Compass Coffee for breakfast before church. As we entered the location we saw the digital signage up front. The add for the app caught our eye. My wife and I sat down to download the app and look at the menu. This took a little bit of time for my wife to add the app, fill out the information, add payment, and send me the referral code. I slowly had to do the same thing and then, figure out what in the world we wanted to eat/drink. I have only been to a compass coffee twice, so I am not familiar with the menu and was pretty indecisive as to what I wanted , not to mention, your spring drinks do not have any information as to what is in them.
Your “manager” Evonnte instead of asking if she can help us with anything on the menu, she walks over and proceeds to say “Do you plan on order something or you need to leave.” She did it in front of all the other customers who were seated in the shop. My wife showed her the app and said “I’ve been trying to figure out the menu.” She did not take care to look to see that I had already place an order.
In light of previous events regarding “loitering” coffee shop occupants, I was extremely taken aback. She returned back to the service area as my wife and I attempted to reconcile what just happened. I then approached her and lightly suggested that a service based approach may be better. “Hello, how are you? What may I help you with, maybe a suggestion on our coffee or pastries?” She affirmed that she heard me and said that if her manager was there that she would tell her to say,”Do you plan on ordering something or you need to leave.” This let us know that she was not open to our suggestion.
I hope that this email sheds some light on our experience and how things are being executed on a store level. If I decide to return I hope that, “the best cup of coffee is the one that points me in the right direction at the start of my day: just like a Compass”.
In Gratitude,
Aziz

Visiting DC for a night and had a 20 min virtual interview so chose this coffee shop to have some coffee and work. I arrived right as my interview was starting and logged onto my computer. I was interrupted multiple times by the staff asking me to purchase something. I tried to gesture that I just needed a few moments for the conversation to end. By the end of my interview, 3 DC police officers had showed up to tell me to leave.
This business called the cops on me for sitting down quietly on my computer for 20 mins because I hadn't ordered a $5 coffee yet.

When will there be an mobile app for Android? I would to be able to order ahead like IPhone customers.
I went to use a coupon and bought a Fiji water. The staff were nice. Two ladies worked together to help answermy question about redeeming the coupon and getting credit for the purchase on my rewards account. There was a line behind and they remained patient making sure not to rush me. That cheered me up. Thanks.

I feel gaslit every time I’ve come here.
The lattes never have the flavor I request; I’ve tasted three lattes with different flavors, all tasting the same. The toppings are never on it. The finished product never looks like the image. Compass is generally over roasted beans, over heated. Cane for convenience, would rather go to petite cerise.
Also, these microwave foods for $10 gotta go.

I am visiting dc this weekend and stopped pass this cafe after leaving a bar close by… They were about to close and the barista was so patient and helpful with me since I’m not an avid coffee drinker. Please visit this cafe if you would like to experience the REAL DC!!! Shoutout to Octavia!!! Best almond butter latte ive ever tasted .. will be returning when I visit dc again

Used to be a really good spot, but it has seemed to go downhill the last few years. The last 3 times I’ve stopped in (and it hasn’t been near closing) they’ve been either out of a menu item I’ve wanted, or out of certain coffee accoutrements. For a $5 cup of brewed coffee, I’d expect better.

Only one clerk with several people in line meant that the service was slow. My ham and cheese croissant was quite soggy. I wasn’t very impressed with this visit.

Visited this cafe the other day. Espresso shot was way over extracted and the batista ignored my request for a new shot. What the heck.
Also, just another bland coffee company with interiors built inspired by IKEA.
