Hawk the security guard was so very kind. he made my expectations for the night very high from his kindness and they were met. the pie was delicious and i just had an overall amazing time. thank you again to hawk for being a sweet person. he made my night 10/10
I have been wanting to come here for a long time and finally made it for a slice of apple pie a la mode & a cup of coffee. It did not disappoint. They have a wide variety of pies so “I’ll be back!” as Arnold said. The apple pie has a tasty filling and the vanilla ice cream was nicely proportioned. The home made crust had a thick rim & added to the experience; it was just enough to be drenched in the ice cream. The pie slice came in its own individual pie encasement which makes you feel like you’re visiting grandma. It had a down home ambiance. The service was personal and the guy even made me a cup of coffee at 8:15 pm. The inside gives you an impression that it’s located off a country road.

Pie, alcohol, and live music on a Friday night? What more is there to want?

I was super excited to try this place. It’s the coolest concept: pie pie, breakfast pie (quiche), and dinner pie, and live music! Since it opened, it was always on my list, and I’d never made it there. I finally made it there today, and my excitement dwindled at first bite. I got classics to try for a baseline. I love pumpkin pie. It’s one of my favorite foods let alone favorite desserts. I got pumpkin, cherry, and a slice of pot pie to eat for lunch. The pot pie was DRY. The crust was DRY with next to no flakiness. I do like that the pot pie wasn’t soggy, which is advertised in the description, but it was DRY DRY. The chicken was moist and seasoned in Herbs De Provence or something similar, but there was no sauce—just chunks of meat and vegetables in a crust. The pumpkin pie had no spice or flavor. It tastes like a cross between canned pumpkin and puréed squash or baby food—again on the same dry crust. The cherry pie was tart. I liked the lack of sweetness, but it needed a little more sweetness and citrus finish from lemon juice or orange. It was too singular in flavor and yet again, the same DRY unflaky crust. Even in a bad pie, a good buttery, flaky crust can save it and leave you satisfied. The crust was disappointing, lacking butter or flavor, and again, DRY!
The people were nice and the order was finished fast, but the food wasn’t good, especially based on previous reviews. Maybe quality is slipping? It was $42 for four slices. I don’t mind paying for quality, but at that price I expected way better. I really wanted to like it, but it left me sad.
Updated to respond back. I did read the description about the pot pie “chicken dinner pie”not being a traditional pot pie and that it wasn’t soggy, but there was literally no sauce to it or moisture. It was very dry. So in that case, it’s just a dry chicken vegetable pie? That doesn’t make it sound very appetizing. I’m not talking about grocery store pie! I make my own with an all butter crust or get it from a specific bakery. The pumpkin literally tasted like baby food and canned pumpkin. It had no spices. Even though you say it’s sour cherry pie, it still should have some kind of other flavor or complexity and the crust is unacceptable with its complete lack of butter and flakiness. Maybe I just caught a bad day.

I stopped into this pie shop and walked out with an armful of treats, absolutely no regrets.
I tried the chocolate pecan pie first, and honestly, it should come with a warning label. Rich, gooey, perfectly nutty, and just dangerous enough to make you consider rearranging your entire diet around it.
The steak, mushroom, and cheese pie was pure comfort food magic. Flaky crust, savory filling, and that melty cheese situation? Trust me, it’s the kind of pie that makes you close your eyes for a second just to process the happiness.
And yes, I also grabbed some Berger cookies, because self-control is overrated. Thick icing, soft cookie, somehow both nostalgic and decadent at the same time.
I leave nearby and I will orders a few pies for the holiday ❤️😋😋

For $9 a slice ($1.50 extra for the whipped cream) I thought my slice of pumpkin pie was rather small and not really tasting of anything. The crust was good, but the filling only faintly tasted of pumpkin and barely had any spicing. I feel like this place is resting on past reputation judging by how many have recommended this place to me in the past. For deserts in DC (including pies) I think there are better priced/higher quality options.
this place is a MUST stop every time i come to DC. i think they rotate their menu but there are some pies that have been on the menu each time i’ve gone. the berger cookie pie (pictured) is my absolute favorite and something i get each time. i’m not exactly sure what it is - i think a custard pie with a cookie on top and it’s DELICIOUS. the pies are decadent so not something i would get all the time if i lived here but holy crap they are GOOD.

My friend and I drove 30 minutes from NW DC to try the pies. I had my favorite, sour cherry. It was delicious. My friend had her favorite, Pecan pie and she said it was as good as her mother’s homemade pecan pie. It was definitely worth the trip across town.
