Everything about this place is awesome! Our server (Eric) was fantastic, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. They have a dessert case and a well stocked cheese counter also!! 100/10 would recommend! Updated from previous review on 2026-03-03
Loved that this got added to the DC scene since I’ve lived here. Unique dishes, house made, great stuff! It’s too bad it’s as expensive as it is, but I get that’s the business state Updated from previous review on 2026-02-23
DC Vegan is a cozy restaurant with its own vegan pulse. On a mission to make the world a better place, it was a delight to observe its different aspects of services. While walking in there's noticeably seating for dining and then in the back there's a deli and dessert bar which also has a bit of a coffee shop vibe. The service was fantastic and everything on the menu can be ordered blindly as each option is delicious or beyond. We ordered the cauliflower wing and focaccia as appetizers which were well portioned and fresh. We also had the chick'n marsala and the chick'n sandwich. I have never had a better chick'n or chicken marsala. This was undoubtedly the best chick'n marsala I have ever had in my existence. I am not sure the source of the recipe either for the chick'n, but it was uncanny and fantastic. What a treat!! The ambience alone sells the place, but the food will bring us back. We're not local to the city, so it is a bit of a trip to get into the heart of Duponte in DC. Don't pass it up and consider this place you're next restaurant outing. The owner(s) were there also and were beyond hospitable and professional. The food was so delectable we ate it so fast we forgot to take pictures.
Chocolate chip cannoli was amazingly delicious!😋😋😋 All other food was tasty! Updated from previous review on 2026-02-14
So happy that DC has a full-on vegan restaurant. There is a nice variety of entrees and sides, as well as desserts (though I've never had one). Drinks are nice too, as is the coffee. I like the variety of dishes. I've been here prob 8 times so far.
I love this place. The staff is friendly and hardworking. The food is perfect. I had chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini and it is the best. And amazing chocolate cake for dessert. I was a little confused that it was called a deli because it was a sit down restaurant with a cozy, intimate atmosphere and takeaway counter. I also loved the artwork of native DC animals. And upstairs is a yoga studio! So beautiful!
Delicious vegan food! Service was also very friendly and helpful. I loved the vegan meatball sub sandwich and the Tres Leches cake.

This is my goto place for innovative vegan deli food.
I wish I would've known about this place sooner. I'm so sorry for not taking pictures. The brunch was the only thing I've ever experienced there. It was well worth it.

Beware they include a required 22% tip if there are 6 or more of you, regardless of food quantity, service quality, or food quality. I've been vegan for decades and wasnot impressed with the food. The fries tasted frozen, not hand cut, no good items to order for kids, and overpriced. There are better vegan places with better options and reasonably priced. Do not recommend.
Update - the owner posted that I offered a 22%tip - that's not true. The female server told me and showed me on the bottom of my receipt that I HAD to pay a 22% tip because we had 8 people (4 adults and 4 children). She said it was mandatory). She did remove $10 from the over $100 bill after I pointed out the drinks were being charged for more money than the menu states. No tip was returned. Overpriced, not that good, and a rip off. My review stands. And you are not impressing us either. You weren't there and obviously were told a different story or misunderstood. Your staff made sure they got a 22% tip, and it was nowhere near worth that. And if you question our review again I will post the final receipt which proves what I am saying.
I just ordered takeout from this spot for brunch and was impressed. We got the huevos rancheros, lemon ricotta pancakes, trumpet calamari, chickn sandwich and the meatball sub. My family and I will definitely order from here again!

We were traveling with a dog so had to do takeout but still enjoyed every single thing that our family of four ordered from DC Vegan. My favorite was the chicken sandwich and whoppie pie. We might go back again today! Updated from previous review on 2025-12-29
enjoyed the wide variety of desserts. the tres leches was wonderful. we went for brunch. we ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich. it was tasty, but felt over priced for what was provided ($17 for just a sandwich, adding fries or another side was extra). we also ordered the wild mushroom truffle omelet which had a lot more to it, but for the price of $27). overall, the food was good but expensive for what we received.
