Cute restaurant with friendly attentive table service. I had the mac & cheese as a starter and did not disappoint. Love the flavors including the coconut bacon pieces. for my main I got the meatball bowl which is out of this world.

My vegan family ordered the Wild Mushroom Ragout, the Lasagne, and the “Chicken” Caesar Salad this evening, with cheesecake, tiramisu, and cannoli for dessert. Heavenly! Each of us (including the picky middle schooler) loved the food and said it was some of the best ever. Updated from previous review on 2025-06-25

Went here with a group of 7. Most of which non vegans. Everyone enjoyed their food. My hi-lights were lasagna and potato skins. Highly recommend!

A bit expensive but solid. Has more of a cafe feel than a restaurant.

The vibe is so cool and fun! The staff is super friendly and the food is not only delicious but the portions are great

Nice coffee, nice cake (even in the night time haha), but very expensive.

I was surprised by the quality of the food, everything was super fresh, very good presentation on the plates, the portions are quite generous and the service by Kelly was incredible for her attention, quality of service and menu recommendations, knowing and explaining her menu in detail and above all her kindness to us on our first time, now I understand why it is a must-visit place if you are in Washington DC!!!! 🙌🏽

We were too late to eat dinner because their kitchen had already closed. So we just had a piece of cake and a cappuccino. For two people we paid over $40. Although I have to say it was a pretty good cake.

⭐️ On vacation and was excited to check out the vegan scene in DC. This place has great reviews so it was at the top of the list. I would not recommend; there are better options, at a better price point, and with better food. We ordered the potato skins, then were told they didn’t have any. Changed our order to the fries and were not offered a refund on the price difference, then they forgot our order all together…it was almost comical. Nothing we had was ‘good’. We finally did get our fries. At least our waitress was nice. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-03

with a few people recommending this vegan place, i wanted to like this place a lot but was pretty disappointed.

When we got there there they were only doing Takeout for their outdoor patio, which is a bit of a bumber but understandable.  I ordered a jackfruit Philly, and when I placed the order, he asked if I wanted fries or salad as if it was one or the other and not an additional charge.  So, a single sandwich before tip was about $22.  45 minutes later, the sandwich was ready.  Since it was to go, I was waiting near the register the whole time while my wife was outside, which made it a long 45 minutes.  After sitting down to eat it, we were disappointed as well.  The fries were pretty airy and didn't have the texture or flavor we were hoping for, and Philly was salty as well.  The Philly itself wasn't bad but also wasn't too memorable, which was disappointing.

All in all, I was expecting a lot more.

The New York style cheesecake here was really nice, but I found my main, the lasagne, was quite lukewarm and fairly average. We felt that the high prices didn't match the casual vibe of the place. The servers were very nice, but ours disappeared for quite a long time - we were told by another server that she was 'in a meeting' so it would have been nice if cover had been arranged in that case. Overall DC Vegan is a nice stop as a fully vegan restaurant, but the food is expensive for what it is.

This place has good food but it’s not highly inspired

I visited over the summer for an event and I have not been able to forget the cacio e pepe from here!! I also had the fried king trumpet calamari and a cannoli, which were also delicious. The cacio e pepe was the best pasta I have ever had, vegan or not! If I ever get the chance to travel here again, I know what I will be getting!

Went for lunch, it was fine. I may be a bit biased, because I hail from a city with some of the best vegan joints I've personally ever been to (Richmond), but I thought the food was just okay. Maybe the dinner menu is more worthwhile, but honestly it was hard to feel like I got what I paid for here. Like I said, it was fine. I got the chickn sandwich, the rice paper bacon was tasty, the patty was decent, but overall it just felt like middle of the road vegan fare.

Verdict: if you're strictly vegan, this place will probably be a decent experience. If you're looking for something memorable, I personally did not find it here.

This place is quickly becoming a go to for awesome vegan food in DC. We traveled from Philly to try the Saint Patrick's Day menu and it was totally worth the drive!! I can't wait to come back.
