Our favorite is the Nonna! Our go-to pizza place for an easy night in. More expensive than your typical takeout pizza, but far more delicious, and great to support a local business. Very easy to order ahead and pickup
This is my go-to pizza place in D.C. Della Barba has several styles available (NY, Nonna, Detroit, and Chicago), and nail each style. They are raising the D.C. pizza scene, and I highly recommend.
Sooo I decided to check out this place based off a review that I saw on Kanesha’s TikTok and I am glad that I did!
I placed an order via UberEats because I was stuck in the house doing homework.
Anyway, I ordered the Nonna Special and a strawberry cheesecake for dessert because why not?!
The pizza, man the pizza — it was so delicious! The crust was fluffy and not dry (something that’s a bit too common). The menu had a lot of good options for your pizza and I liked that you had the ability to customize to your liking. The cheesecake was ok but I will say the presentation was so cute!
I cant wait to order again. I definitely recommend checking out this spot if you haven’t done so already!
The deep dish pizza is amazing I’m from Chicago and now live in DC and quite often I talk about how I miss Chicago style deep dish pizza well I don’t have to worry about that anymore I found a new home!
The owner chef was amazing. He automatically gave us a class on his menu and pizza offerings We came their specifically for the Chicago style pizza, which was not a disappointment. This tiny place puts out a powerful explosion of pizza. After the freshest Cesar salad we had the pepperoni , listening to the advice of not adding too much wet ingredients we stuck with a classic. Sauce and crust made our rainy evening bright. Our next goal is to try the NY thing and the Detroit.
Best pizza in the DMV! Well worth the effort to go there for dine in or take out. I've tried their different style pizzas and have never had an experience. The cheesecake is one of the best I've ever had!
If it was possible to rate below 1 star I definitely would, due tot he overly aggressive rudeness of the owner. Within minutes of arriving with GM two kids, I was harassed by the owner to the point where I simply decided to leave. I have lived in DC for 10+ years and this was easily the worst dining experience (or lack there of) I ever had and would strongly recommend NOT going here for pizza, especially with kids. I left within
5 minutes of arriving because I had no interest in trying to argue with or be around a person who seemed to be combative from the moment we walked in
The staff here are very friendly and the owner works hard to make the experience memorable for all customers. Their best pie is definitely the grandma slice, which is fantastic. All the ingredients are great. Their New York pie is not as good as other places in town, but is fine if you don’t want a thick crust. The dessert options are solid as well.
So we go there to casually have a pizza and we had like the worst experience. The food wasn’t all that great for being very overpriced but you would think for what you pay you’d get decent service right? Not at all. The person at the front (perhaps the owner) was so rude and hostile when asking for the most basic accommodations. Some things that are basic at most fine establishments are totally absent. She kept forgetting to do things and would give attitude. The worst part of all is I noticed that the owner instead of seeing the bad reviews and trying to do better, is want to fight folks who were customers and continue to be hostile even online. Wow that’s just immature and I hate to say. Childish. 🤦🏻♂️
The customer service I received this afternoon was terrible. I’ve received better service from Manny and Olga’s on U Street at 3 am than this restaurant. My boyfriend and I ordered a kale Cesar salad that was supposed to come with a Cesar dressing. We received a plate of dry kale without any dressing. After letting one of the workers know, she preceded to hand me a side of thick Cesar dressing. Unless I was ordering takeout, or specifically requested dressing on the side I have never experienced this at any other restaurant. When I returned to my table with the side of thick dressing, it became apparent that trying to add the dressing to the salad ourselves would cause a mess. My boyfriend brought the plate to the workers and asked them if we’re were supposed to mix the salad ourselves, and the worker had the worst attitude and was loudly yelling as she returned to the kitchen to find a bowl. Needless to say after that “show”, the salad was not mixed. Although the service was poor, I left a tip because I was raised better than that and not all of the workers had this poor attitude. But save yourself a trip and don’t eat here.

Nona is okay, New York is fine, Chicago is a soggy bread bowl filled with cheese. Regular staff are usually really nice, owner has a terrible attitude - don't even think of adding toppings to a slice and absolutely no splitting toppings on a pie. If they're busy, they'll tell you 10 minutes and give you an underbaked pie 30 minutes later. They also have an illegal no-cash policy.

Good slices but overall services and dine in experiences leave something to be desired. Glitchy ordering. Tablecloths on slatted tables causing repeated spills. After you order you are pretty much ignored. Much better as a takeout spot.

My husband and I had an amazing time having lunch at Della Barba this weekend! It really scratched the itch I've had for deep dish pizza lately. But not only that, we also loved everything else we ordered. My husband said he thought the lemonade was the best he ever had, I thought the Arnold Palmer was also noteworthy, and we both loved our caesar salad. Highly suggest!
