Tried Donsak Thai Restaurant in Woodley Park and really enjoyed it. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken at “regular spicy,” and they were very good, flavorful, served quickly, and definitely spicy. I didn’t get any appetizers or drinks this time, but the main dish alone made it a great experience. Our server was very nice and very attentive to our needs. We were a party of five and she had no issues splitting the bill for each of us. I’ll definitely be going back!
This is, without question, my top Thai restaurant for truly authentic Thai food, and I say that after trying many Thai restaurants across the United States. What keeps me coming back is their Isan (Essan) menu, especially the standout dish papaya salad with fermented blue crab, a must for anyone who has lived in or traveled through Thailand or Laos and understands real regional flavors.

I ordered take out from here twice: the first time I thought it was very good, the second time I was not impressed at all. Let’s start with what I didn’t like: the pork belly dish (see photo) was so so tough to point where I decided it actually wasn’t edible. Awful. The drunken noodles were good, but the portion was very small - much smaller than takeout competitors in the area and definitely not shareable. The good - the green curry and pad Thai were both very flavorful...
