After seeing some lower reviews, I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious! Service could be a little quicker since there weren’t many people inside, but overall the server was super nice. Narnia theme could have been better. Price was more expensive than we were expecting. Overall, we’d come back!

I don't think a server was ever actually assigned to our table?? we showed up on time for our reservation and then sat there unaddressed for 20-25 minutes before getting up to ask for a server. over the course of two hours we asked multiple different people for waters and simply never got water. had to find someone to ask for our check too. I've worked for years in food service, I have a lot of patience and sympathy for my people in the trenches. but man, this was something else. left feeling very thirsty and just kind of confused

Kaleb at Duke's was very attentive. He immediately waited on me although the venue was packed for a singles event. I received my food quickly and correctly. He was extremely polite and checked in throughout my time at Duke's. The food was really good after a long day, hot and fresh. The deviled eggs were a bit salty however, still good. The fish and chips was perfect; the mushy peas were what they were, but honestly, better than I've had in London. When I wasn't at my table when my food came, one of the bartenders even covered my food up for me. Overall, my experience at Duke's was great and everyone working was constantly checking on us to ensure our experience was pleasant. I would definitely return again, Duke's staff was amazing. Looking forward to seeing you all again in Navy Yard.

We went for the Narnia experience, and should've worn ear plugs because it was so loud. Imagine if I typed this review in all caps?! Turn down the music, already! It's not a hip-hop concert, but a restaurant! On the positive side: our server, Brea, was lovely, and kind. But we couldn't even talk in here it was so loud--much less think enough to have a decent conversation. We had one good cocktail (the whiskey one with walnut) and left to find a quieter place to eat, drink, and have conversations, so two people could actually converse about Narnia, work, family, our days, or just anything, really.

Solid brunch service with local service charm, little mahhh to begin but overwhelming good as the the service progressed. We ordered the 90 min unlimited brunch drinks and all but the first round arrived before we even thought about getting a round. I send the English Breakfast pictures of the actual food to a brit I know in the UK and he said looks legit , and the black pudding was comparable to a German blood wurst and good.

I never post reviews but thought this was needed because it was so abysmal. I recently went to Duke’s navy yard and had the worst service imaginable. I decided to give it another try the following week, and everything was somehow worse. The service was abominable and the hosts would not acknowledge my party (who had a reservation) for 10 minutes. We were just standing there while they were chitchatting amongst themselves. We still had to wait over 20 mins for a table when he had a reservation. The service was bad, drinks never came, and they didn’t even give us water. It took forever to get our server’s attention. The bar was packed and did not have enough bar tenders to accommodate all of the patrons. I don’t know whose bright idea it was to have karaoke happening simultaneously, but it was atrocious. It was way too loud and I couldn’t even hear my friends talk. Everything was expensive and they tried to charge for items that never even made it to our table. I was so excited for this Narnia themed bar, but I will not be coming back. I went last year, and it was not this bad. Don’t waste your time giving them your business, especially not during the holiday season. The burger I ordered was okay, but definitely overpriced. Our food came out before we even had water or drinks. I’m extremely disappointed in the entire experience. Rant over.

We walked in and sat but that was the last time anyone asked about us. We were then ignored until we were forced to leave. It was also externally hot and they refused to turn on the fans. I’ve never felt more dismissed. As someone who’s worked in the industry the manger interrupting our server mid order for a shift change was crazy to me.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Walked in and the host was amazing but that is the only positive thing I have to share. We weren’t greeted for the first ten minutes. Finally, we had an unenthusiastic server approach us for a drink order, but the manager interrupted our drink order for “shift change.” To add, it was not crowded and they had plenty of staff walking around. As someone who has worked in the industry for so long, I was so shocked at every aspect of this place. This was our first and last time at Duke’s Grocery.

What I love about the place is the atmosphere they create. You can tell that whoever runs it is conscientious about creating an environment that is interactive and engaging. I’m currently writing this with a winter wonderland theme.
The staff is all incredibly friendly and personable. If you need a good cocktail, ask the bartender Mark for a dealer’s choice and you won’t be disappointed.
Food is all good, a little too big for me and the sandwiches can be a little TOO much. But it’s still good and you’ll be satisfied. The chorizo fries are phenomenal.
