Prefacing this by saying I did try to call the resturant to discuss but it went straight to voice mail:

I've been coming to this Hank's for quite a few years, but this is likely my last time. I was here with family as a party of 3 yesterday eve. I ordered the lobster roll which was inedible, the lobster tasted like it had been frozen for years - to the restaurant's credit they did offer to replace it but I didn't want to wait and was pretty disgusted by that point. My first guest had the bronzino and now has food poisoning - I won't go into more detail but she knows it was from the fish. I tried some of the fish and it tasted good tho... Also she ordered rice and it was maybe half cooked at best, crunchy.

My second guest had the fish and chips, she didn't eat it all and I asked why, and then I tasted some and the fish itself tasted mediocre at best. She woke up with a gassy stomach.

Well the shrimp and mussel appetizers were pretty good, and my meal ended up being french fries which were also good, and I woke up with no gastrointestinal issue thankfully.

The server seemed on edge but she was friendly enough, so we just paid the bill and left as soon as we could.

Really I'm surprised and I just hope noone else who ate there yesterday had a similar experience - the place was pretty packed.

Good-bye Hanks (fond memories especially from the original location on Penn SE)

Hanks is one of my go to seafood spots in the wharf. I always order their raw oysters, charbroiled oysters, seafood pasta, lobster roll or Mac n cheese. The restaurant has an outdoor patio that is open when the weather is warm. I always recommend making reservations and if you cannot make one the bar always works.

The restaurant usually features oyster specials, happy hour specials during the week and this month they feature a 3 course Winter menu. I recommend registering with Toast before dining here so you can earn and redeem rewards points. There is a parking garage attached to the building and also street parking a couple of blocks up.

Hanks has great food & atmosphere but our waitress was awful! She was so rude and abrasive! Every time we tried to ask a question & inquire about the food, we were met with abrupt, short one word answers. She was terrible! But those who delivered our food & drinks to the table were pleasant & welcoming! The waitress ruined my visit - she really ticked me off! I had been really enjoying my first visit to the Wharf & was in a great mood until I had to interact with her. Do better!! It’s annoying spending over $250 on a meal & treated like trash! I won’t be back!

Food was delicious! It was a little crowded early on a Friday night, so we had to eat at the enclosed patio seating. It wasn't too bad, since there were space heaters.

The food was fabulous!! We got a small Grand Plateau (it had all the seafood we wanted and then some), Grilled Octopus (very tender and the chimichurri paired nicely with it), Grilled Branzino (beautifully cooked and the fried capers were a pleasant surprise!), and one of the specials which was a seafood pasta (good portion and amount of seafood). For drinks we had the Not Your Nanas Bananas and Say Jalapeño to my Little Friend -- both very good. The service was great; no complaints! We will definitely be back!

Amazing! The manager Erin is priceless. She recommended the Hog Island style bbq Oysters and they were incredible. If you like oysters try them. A splash of hot sauce and parmesesn cheese! The flavor profile was just what my taste buds wanted. The Blistered peppers were an excellent side. Such great attention from the entire staff made my meal 5 stars. Don't miss this place.
