I had the pleasure of dining at The Hitching Post DC. I ordered the grilled lamb chops, mac & cheese, collard greens. The lamb chops are in my top 2 of the best I've ever tasted. I don't normally order mac & cheese when I go out to a restaurant, but this order was perfect as well. The collard greens could use a little vinegar, however, they were still delicious. I will definitely dine there in the near future. The lemon cake had was flavorful, moist and delicious, too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Providing feedback to help restaurant improve. I drove from Maryland and was disappointed. By far, the food did not taste like soul food. The baked macaroni reminded me of that stove top texture, the fried whiting was paper thin although I did like how it was fried. The cornbread had an unusual taste and did not meet my expectations. Overall the time it took for me to drive there was not worth the trip. Hopefully you will take the reviews to heart and accept constructive criticism. Invest in a chef that knows how soul food tastes.

I ordered fried catfish with Mac and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread. The fish was 10/10, the Mac and cheese was 3/10 it was dry and had no seasoning, the coleslaw just wasn’t 3/10 good and the cornbread which I was looking forward to the most wasn’t good either. 1/10. I will go back just not for the sides

I read about this restaurant in the Washington Post and was excited to visit but the food did not live up to the hype. I was told this is a soul food restaurant but the food lacks that soul food flavor. The food is well cooked and is prepared well but it is bland and lacks that soul food flavor. Its more like healthy well cooked food than soul food. I will say their lemon cake is amazing. Now that cake has a very nice lemon flavor. I think if they work on adding more flavor and spices to their food this place would really be something special.

Vegetarian options: I ordered the vegetable curry with rice.
The dish consisted of some steamed vegetables in a very watery curry sauce which was not very flavorful. The rice seemed to be an instant rice.
Overall it was a major disappointment and in my opinion, overpriced. This was my first visit to this restaurant and definitely my last.
Food was great
