The ambiance was absolutely wonderful! We tried a few dishes. Loved the pasta and our cheesecake dessert. The squash we had was a bit hard as were the brussel sprouts, but other than that, this was a 5-star experience. I'd seriously recommend the lamb bolognese

Valentines price fixed menu was not the move. Was able to get the bar menu instead of the $125pp which I didn’t know about (mostly on them cause they didn’t tell me when I changed to table from bar). Service was good, they were nice and comped the apps that already came. We then got the $100 porterhouse for two, buratta and dessert. All of it was extremely mediocre. The steak was covered in blue cheese, not cooked that well and a small portion for two. The buratta felt basic and the dessert was basically a $18 brownie

I was very disappointed with the Valentine’s Day price fixed menu — it was absolutely not worth the price. Paying $125 per person for very small portions & splitting a small entree felt incredibly unreasonable. It should be clearly stated online that the entrée is meant to be shared. The patio vibes were lovely but sadly the food itself was very mediocre. Unfortunate because I had heard such good things, but overall not worth the money at all. I imagine this restaurant may be a better experience outside of holiday set menus.

Iron Gate’s Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu left much to be desired. When all was said and done, the bill was $420 and the only thing I could think about were all the much, much better dinners we could have had in DC at that price point.
The meal felt like being served an assembly line of preassembled small plates — hastily strewn upon the table and collected with feverish hands, as if the food runners were under strict orders to turn tables at breakneck speed.
The food itself? Mediocre. The beet salad tasted like beets. The burrata tasted like burrata. Surely for $125 per person, they could afford to elevate these dishes.
The few highlights were the oysters and the focaccia, but the rest was underwhelming bordering on forgettable.
The tenderloin entree was well cooked, but the charred greens on the side were so burnt eating it was like licking charcoal.
For dessert, a sad, dry brownie topped with freezer burned ice cream. The icing on a disappointing cake.
I felt like a sucker for paying so much for such an unimpressive meal, the quality and flavors of which reminded me of something you might be served on an airplane.
Maybe their regular à la carte menu is worth the rave reviews. After last night, I can’t be bothered to find out.

Food is good. Service was attentive, but clumsy. A restaurant better visited when it's warmer outside.
First time here was for restaurant week an I have no bad words to say. Ambiance, food and service was all lovely. Main dishes were phenomenal and desserts were generously sized. Would definitely return for the normal fixed menu.
Overpriced and not special. The main course was good but not hot, the starter was small. The lighting was bad, we sat outside and had to request a heater. Service was slow and we had to remind the server to bring coffee. The bill was dropped on the table, and we did not see our server again. We had to flag some to pay. I will not be back.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Iron Gate. We found the food and service excellent. We will certainly return.
Unique restaurant with romantic ambiance and impeccable service. Cant wait to come back to DC to experience Iron Gate!

This was a lovely dining experience. Went for New Year's Eve dinner and it was exceptional. The food was marvelous, the staff were fantastic and the drinks were lovely. It was quiet atmospheric as well and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal with plenty of style.

Delicious brunch in a beautiful hygge space! We sat by the fire on a cold winter day. As vegetarians, we were glad to find flavorful meatless dishes on the menu, including orange blossom donuts, mushroom arancini, burrata, pomodoro gnocchi, and fried eggs.
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Our server was exquisite, attentive, kind and the food was magnificent. This is a real DC treasure of a restaurant.
Attentive service & incredible food. NYE prix fixe was the perfect romantic dinner splurge for my partner and I to ring in the new year.
Our first time dining at Iron Gate coincided with an anniversary during a visit to DC. Very impressed with the ambience which was romantic without being penumbrous. Complimentary sparking wine was appreciated, although it did create slight confusion delaying arrival of the wine pairing for Mezze course. Once that glitch was pointed out, service was perfect the remainder of the evening. We enjoyed the various selections in all 3 courses and could barely finish the final dessert. That is a shame because Iron Gate's version of cheesecake with baked apples and caramel is superb. Also memorable was Ktima Biblia Chora (red) 2016 wine selection with the main course.
